The island may be underwater in the near future due to rising sea levels. It is imprtant to learn what we can now. A team of ham radio operators from Azle and Weatherford in Texas is already equipped and trained, and raising funds to go to the island for the first ever test of the post loss radio signals. This test could involve tens of thousands of current radio operators in the scientific analysis of the 1937 radio signals. Google Tri-County Amateur Radio Club WC5C for details.
Actually a bigger threat than rising sea levels is that if you put all those people on the island it could very well tip over.

Check out the Skeptoid website. He debunks this latest theory because these guys say the items found date from the 1930's but don't rule out any possible sources before focusing on Earhart. He says the stuff found that dates from the 1930's is most likely from female pearl divers or even later temporary inhabitants.
I find it odd that Hillary Clinton jumped on this the same way President Clinton went out of his way to announce the Genome mapping project before it was completed. A way of putting yourself into history.
