• Speaking of annoying traffic cops (not really), but what a novel idea, slap the glad-handers upside the head. You cost us 8k to raise 3 million and nobody wants to pay? Fine, we'll put a lien on your property.

• A lot of cops are professional liars and will say anything for a conviction.

• We're talking about a felony here - a FELONY! Once you've got that on your record you could lose your job, your guns and, depending on where you live, your right to vote. All because a cop was having a bad day and decided that you bumped into him instead of the other way around. Another reason to stay the hell out of the Empire state.

• So, instead of TEACHING these idiots respect, we are going to threaten them with arrest? This is stupid! Come ON! A potential 4 year sentence will be like a traffic violation at best. The "perp" will be taken in, booked, fingerprinted and mug shotted, and then set free on his own recognizance or with a small bond. He will be given a lawyer, paid for by OUR tax dollars, who will negotiate probation or something. Big F-ing Whoop! the smartasses will be back on the streets the same night, looking for the same cop, so they can provoke them again.

  We need to get back to where there was REAL respect, and/or FEAR of the police if you were not acting right. Back in most of our days, when the cops showed up, everyone went home. When the cops show up these days, the party is just starting. Cop-baiting is a new sport, it seems. Certainly a way to make a quick buck. Everyone has a cellphone. If you can provoke a cop to slap you upside the head, guess who's got a lawsuit? Oh yah!

  • You left out involuntary DNA sampling. And how long will it be before signing away your second amendment right will become a standard part of all felony "plea deals"?

    Do you really think this is about harassment? Not likely.

• The dipshit politicians in NY are really beginning to annoy me.

• What in the hell is going on in NY? Annoying a person is wide open to interpretation of the person who claims they are bring annoyed. Damn grow a back bone and a set. If you put on a uniform, there are just some people who are going to try you. It's how you handle them which will earn you the respect that some feel they can demand. Earn respect, demand fear. One will take you far, the other will eventually come back to haunt you.

• That's because they only have seven bullets in their guns now. I guess they feel threatened...Four years? Why in the little old communist wonderland of Kalifornia, district attorney don't even charge people with resisting or obstructing officers...They just give everyone a group hug and some cash to go away.

• OMG!! This is so incredibly stupid and dangerous, touching and motive not withstanding...what if this catches on? I can only imagine what would happen to citizens in San Francisco, or Jersey City, or Los Angeles, or Berkley, or any big city or metropolitan area for that matter, because these places are always looking for new income streams!

• The bill as written requires physical contact, so it really is not a big deal. The annoying has to do with motive, but an unlawful touching must occur, and I really don't have a problem with that.

  • Yeah, it would be impossible for a cop to lie about that, or cause the contact himself. . . many people throughout history have had no problem with police states.

    Patriot Act domestic spying? No problem, it couldn't possibly be used for a political agenda. . .

    Write the government a blank check at any level and the result is always, always the same.
