Communist China works (Jeff Immmelt), Fascist Italy worked (the trains ran on time), Lenin's Soviet Union was a success ("I have seen the future and it works."--Lincoln Steffens), Nazi Germany worked (Joe Kennedy admired it).
Some people admire totalitarian regimes because they "work", they admire centralized planing and coercive rule by the political elites. They see these regimes as examples for the United States to follow. That the people who stand in the way of this progress get trampled underfoot is of little concern.
Shoot dissidents; charge their next of kin 35 cents for the bullet.
