My suspicion is that the GOP masters have already chosen their candidate, and all of the debates, and polls and causes are just for show.

Yeah, I didn't take his statement as something negative against Newt. But that is cause enough for alarm. IMHO Newt has some good ideas. And sometimes some very good ideas. But if he is Rather's second choice (after Hunstman) then I have to wonder if he is this cycles McCain ...so far as they are concerned.
