AP: NBC NEWS BRAINSTORMS HOW TO STOP ‘BORING’ MSNBC’S RATINGS FREEFALL

• Kind of funny really. All the always angry leftists that believe this Bush-hating, Obama-worshiping propaganda which MSNBC specialize in, don't like watching what they purport to believe. There has got to be at least 20 % of the population, die-hard democrat voters, that really believes this drivel. Yet they refuse to watch it or listen to it, the latter based on the failure of left-wing talk radio.

  MSNBC must be thinking, Damn! They should be FORCED to watch!

• Apparently no one at MSNBC has taken a marketing class. One of the first things taught in one is the concept of the Four Ps....Price, Place, Promotion, and Product. In MSNBC's case the first three are taken care of by bundling and a the giant ad budget NBC/Comcast has. That leaves us with product. The other three mean nothing if the intended audience is not buying what MSNBC is selling. It isn't that MSNBC is boring, it is unappealing and out of touch with the overall news market. The only way to overcome that is to change the product.

  MSNBC isn't liberal, it's progressive. If it were actually liberal,with an eye towards corruption by businesses as well as the govt, it might actually make it. There are enough people sick of the crony-capitalism that we have that you could siphon off from the CNN-FOX axis .

• This is the part that sickens me: "...the advertising is not as important as the carriage deals." Meaning part of what I pay to Dish Network goes to MSNBC. I wonder how many people would pay a fee to keep MSNBC compared to Fox News?

• Well they could take the same route as Al Gore's Current BS, and sell it to some foreign investors, then sue them for non payment.

• I sure there is room for another cartoon channel.....Make it like MTV was when it started, cartoon jocks, Special Ed Schultz, Tingle the clown, and little Ralphie Madcow the farm cartoon director.

  • They made the choice to become "The place for politics" it's 1 of their slug lines, & it is true. They are all politics, all the time, outside of "LockUp". But while they did this, they pushed real news journalism to the side, & then allowed the politics to bleed into what was left of their "straight" news coverage. Fox always made sure that news & opinion were kept separate for the most part. On top of that, FNCs opinion hosts can cover a breaking news story, MSNBC has people on air who don't have the intellectual capacity to cover breaking news. I watched Sharpton try to discuss the Germanwings crash, & he doesn't have an effing clue. It wasn't even funny, it was sad actually. I know why he's on TV, but I don't know why he stays on, if you get my point. I will be curious when & how they decide to overhaul MSNBC. It can't happen soon enough.

  Just wish that some leftist had put millions in to the failure. Sadly the cable bundling will allow a sick and twisted cable station stay on at even sub 10K viewers.
