April jobs report: 988,000 more people left the labor force. And the Obama administration somehow translates that horrific statistic into another drop in the unemployment rate, from 6.7% to 6.3%. If this sort of improvement continues, pretty soon nobody will be working, nobody will be in the labor force, and the unemployment rate will be 0%. Forward!

    Now, I know a thing or two about math, and when you add 288,000 jobs, but lose 344,000 jobs, you come out with a net loss of 56,000 jobs. Therefore there is no logical way that the unemployment rate can drop .3%, unless of course, you are a liberal and math isn't allowed to get in the way of your political agenda.

    • It's all about the dishonest way the U3 is calculated. Math has nothing to do with it since the federal government is involved.

      • I have been trying to find the raw numbers between naps, and here is what I came up with for April.

        Job Creation for April 288,000.
        Job Force Participation for April dropped by 806,000.
        In the week ending April 5 seasonally adjusted initial claims were 302,000.
        In the week ending April 12 seasonally adjusted initial claims were 304,000.
        In the week ending April 19 seasonally adjusted initial claims were 329,000.
        In the week ending April 26 seasonally adjusted initial claims were 344,000.
        Now, remember, these are the seasonally adjusted numbers, not even the real raw numbers! The real numbers are even higher, but I got tired of trying to find them.
        So, 1,279,000 people lost their jobs, 288,000 people found jobs, and 806,000 people quit looking for work. Therefore, if you subtract the 288,000 jobs created and the 806,000 people leaving the labor force from the 1,279,000 unemployment claims, you have a net jobless increase of 185,000
        The official unemployment rate dropped from 6.7% to 6.3%.

        The smoke and mirrors coming from the BLS (Bureau of Lying Shitheads) would account for more Globull Warming than all the cow farts on Earth since the beginning of time!
        Is it just me, or are there more people that are tired of the bullshit and lies? All of this is just there to make King Barky look good! If Boosh was president, there would be screaming from the rooftops about how he is massaging the numbers.

        • If you look here - http://www.bls.gov/news.release/pdf/empsit.pdf - at "Summary Table A" you will find the seasonally adjusted number of people who left the work force is 988,000, the number I used in the post above. Even worse than the number you have. One of the ways the employment situation is masked is by picking and choosing whether they highlight actual or seasonally adjusted numbers. Whichever looks better, I think, is how they make the choice. This month they highlighted actual number of people leaving the labor force - if the seasonally adjusted number was lower they would have highlighted that. It's enough to make me puke.

        • The difficulty in finding raw numbers (truth) is made purposefully difficult- just another facet in a picture that has criminals hiding what they do- and the media is criminally complicit. Well done with your digging- THOSE numbers need to get out.

        • They just keep lowering the denominator to get the desired result. Once done, they simply get the press to say what they want it to say. The LOFO will read the headline and believe things are improving.

    • The rate drops when people who have been collecting unemployment exhaust their benefits and stop using their state's labor department to look for work. The become statistically invisible and are no longer counted as unemployed.

      • I know that, I'm just trying to make the point that the UI Stats are complete bullshit. You know the old saying, "There are lies, damned lies, and statistics."

        • I have an answer, Poppa. It's simple: take away the government's ability to massage the statistics by taking the total number of full-time jobs and dividing by the population. That will give you an employment rate that is not massage-able. It's also a more valuable number than the unemployment rate because it tells you how many Americans are out there working.

          • There ya go, let's just start reporting the "Employed Rate", shut all this nonsense down.

          • And don't count part timers. Just full timers. Otherwise you will give them a chance to massage the numbers: "Hey, these guys each worked one hour last week, so that counts."

          • Exactly. No bs, who's working and who's not. My only rule would be hours... if my daughter works 3 jobs that = over 40 hours, she's full time.

        • Yep- too many people are willfully lending themselves to being deceived which empowers these liars- both in government as well as the press/media.

  • So 37.2% of us have achieved income equality since only 62.8% of us are participating in the labor force.
