Probably someone said this already, but Archie is not dead.
This is a just a series of comics with Archie as an adult. This is something that can be easily retconned if necessary. The series sold for average 8K per book, that is not stellar by any means, so most people don't give a crap, probably bought by collectors who like Archie and it has no importance. All in all, the publicity is probably much more than it deserves.
Archie is still alive in Riverdale doing stupid stuff like always.
They wrote this for collectors and they wrote this for their own selves. This series was for no one intelligent.
I was thinking of starting a foundation called "Who Gives a Rat's Ass About That?" The demand is out there.
But could you deal with all the audits the IRS would throw your way? Legitimately, of course. The American Taxpayers NEED to know why you spent $2.37 on Post-It notes with donated money!
