Ariana Grande concert explosions: ‘Number of confirmed fatalities,’ police say. Of course the Brit authorities won’t confirm anything, leading us to believe it was either a popcorn machine explosion or a bombing by a white, conservative, Christian, NRA member. It certainly couldn’t have been terror driven.

Update from Fox News: 19 dead and 50 injured. Authorities now treating this as a terror attack but have not confirmed.

  • Nobody that targets 8 year olds and teens and their parents trying to have a good time as a family deserves to live a full and meaningful life. Everyone involved from the person that came up with the idea to the bomb maker and planners and drivers, etc. My opinion. Everyone involved should be cut down.

  • A few thoughts...

    1. I am IHTM's resident concert goer, if there is such a thing. I must say, I am shocked that it has taken this long for nutjob jihadis to hit concerts. Very easy, very soft targets in my opinion. The Eagles of Death Metal attack in Paris was in the venue, during the gig. This one was outside as fans were letting out, & the kiddie factor made this too easy. Most fans of pop stars like Grande are between 8 & 20 years old, almost all girls, many going to their 1st show. They would be THEEEEE easiest of targets, & the attackers knew this. Since most modern arenas are designed with a main lobby area where the ticket office & merch will be, it is perfect for this type of attack.

    2.I am going to at least 5 major venue shows this summer, & the Manchester Arena is a 21,000 capacity venue, is similar to the United Center in Chicago. I expect security to be amped up from the norm, which has been upped from what it used to be a few years ago. Metal detectors, police dogs, & pat downs are all the norm. So when I see Metallica w/Avenenged Sevenfold & Volbeat at the Iowa Speedway next month, I'm guessing it will be more of a pain then usual. Same goes for my 4 Iron Maiden gigs w/ Ghost in Lincoln at Pinnicle Bank Arena, Kansas City at the Sprint Center, St.Louis at the old Riverport Amphitheater, & at the X-cel Energy Center in my hometown, St.Paul. I am not expecting any security issues at any of these gigs.

    3.While not a fan of Ariana Grande, this is horrible, & my thoughts & prayers go out to her, her fans, the families & friends of those killed or injured. Nobody should suffer any of just happened because of some idiot's stupid failed ideology. Just waiting now to find out about the bomber & that idiots background.

      Exactly. It's just like political speech I don't like: I would never allow a liberal's political message to be killed by violence. Who was giving the concert is irrelevant. It was kids who were getting killed outside the concert.

      • Ariana Grande was one of the triggered idiots that just couldn't believe that Trump won. She is a ho (or at least acts like one) and she is not talented at all. None of that matters at all when it comes to this particular issue. Even though her being Jewish (I read) and a US citizen, a woman were probably all in the losers' minds, their real targets where the girls (children) and their parents.

        They believe that debasing and murdering children is the way to ensure domination over everyone. It is a sick ideology and sick people and all involved should be cut down.

      • Spot on. It's a concert, people are just there to enjoy life for a couple of hours & forget their problems. The fact is, I can relate to this because I do lots of shows, & have not met anyone who should die or be maimed because someone has cultural issues because they are part of a "religion" that is intolerant by design & demand submission to it's will.

  • So they admit it's terrorism now--ISIS is claiming credit--and Trump gave his best speech ever. In Bethlehem, with Abbas standing right there in front of him, he said, "Peace can never take root in an environment where violence is tolerated, funded, and even rewarded." That was a powerful dig at the Palestinian president, whose country tolerates, funds, and rewards violence. I bet Abbas wanted a hole to open under his feet and swallow him up.

    Oddly, I can't find any reporting on that speech anywhere in the mainstream media. The American president just bitch slapped the Palestinian president face to face and nobody's talking about it?

  • The problem is the proliferation of idealistic liberal governments singing Kumbaya while they sit in their security covered homes and offices.

    It's easy for them to say "Can't we all just get along" when they have bullet proof armored cars and 24 hour security details.
