Arrested for not smiling

Arrested for not smiling: We probably shouldn’t be surprised that a society having assumed the authority to regulate emotions is actually doing so. But any, our congratulations to Orwell . . . it would seem that the thought police have arrived.

  • I thought this was about a man that was arrested for not smiling, and not about me. I am very surprised that you have picked this article out of the guardian newspaper as it is a very left wing paper the sort you would hate trust me. I am not a troll, I came across the site by chance after looking for something regarding Cuba, If I was a troll I would be a lot worse I would think. Anyway it gives you something more interesting to do on here instead of just slapping each other on the back. To be be honest I am just have fun, just banter lads that's all nothing else.

    • He's "playing a gig (lead guitar)" LMFAO!!!
      A supposed musician/poli-sci genius!
More like Mr Bean on morphine!

    • nigel. I recognize this troll work. The space preceding punctuation and several phrases it has used harken back to a troll we suffered for months here. Which putz was that? He recently posted something like 'finally, someone who knows what he's talking about.' That phrase, while innocuous enough that it could be anyone, buzzed the buzzer and sure enough, this isn't a new troll. Shine a little light on the adumbrated character and we shall see...

  • Seriously, if there's such a concern about security at these "games" that they have to arrest people for not smiling, maybe it's time they just play the damn things at some remote location and make everyone watch on TV. If the corporate sponsors don't like it, too damn bad... the taxpayers and the regular people will make out. Eff the politicians and the crony capitalists.

  • Keep in mind this is Britain, where you can go to prison for shooting someone who is burglarizing your home. Barry, Eric, and company are green with envy.
