As Secretary of State, Kerry would elevate climate issues. “He would not only put climate change in the top five issues he raises with every country, but he would probably rethink our entire diplomatic approach to the issue.” Yeah, that’ll go over big with the Middle Eastern states whose economies depend on oil. Maybe Obama should make him Secretary of Statism instead.

Bonfire of the Absurdities: After 35 year career writing software for IBM mainframes, am now self-employed contractor thinking of joining a union and striking for higher wages.       • Chili's currently has something called Santa Cruz steak - it comes with this green hot pepper sauce (sides are mashed potatos with jalapenos and cheese plus a corn salsa.) I am not a big steak eater but am a spicy food eater, as you might have guessed. Still, I didn't know how green hot sauce would play on a steak, but after trying it I really like it. I guess it wouldn't be everybody's idea of a good steak dinner but if you're inclined toward spicy, give it a try....

            Almost posted this in Tips a couple weekends ago for the male type persons when I did it, not real clear on the mechanics, may be for the female types too. But when slicing and dicing jalapenos and other magic ingredients for a giant pot of homemade salsa, and bananna peppers for Italian hoagies, we have a new rule.

            That's where the tip and before thing come in. We all know you wash your hands after using the restroom, right? Well, in this situation it's a really, really, REALLY good idea to wash your hands BEFORE taking a leak too. With boiling water, and a bristle brush, maybe some 20Mule Team too.

            What was that poppa? Of course there was a slight amount of alcohol involved! And the water in the shower and bodywash (hey, with my eyes scrunched shut and tears streaming down my face by then I'm lucky I found that) intensified the sensation before it got better. Tomatos boiled over while I was in the shower too. You've been warned.

          • Yeah right, like I was doing any thinking at the time. Thanks for the tip, but there ain't going to be no next time, that one is seared into my memory so to speak.

          • Another good tip, is to wash your hands after slicing peppers, especially if you're going to have sex with your lady later. Or she'll be REAL mad.

      • I really dislike Theresa Heinz. That lady does not need to be in anything that has any infuence at all. Kerry is terrible. He is just terrible. This administration is terrible.
