  • Oh great, another channel my lame assesd excuse for a cable company will tout as part of their "extended basic" package. Like I don't already have enough worthless channels like QVC to ignore.

  • I find it extremely hilarious how atheists take their beliefs to the point of....wait for it.......religious zealotry! They are like islamists in their prosecution of atheism. In fact, they are just like islamists. They hate anyone who doesn't share their beliefs. They threaten, berate, and attack all theists. They are the islamist doppelgangers. Its hilarious, sad, and terrifying at once. I for one find it sad that someone cannot look around them at the beauty in this world and not know beyond the shadow of a doubt that there is intelligent design. By way of all of the elements, atoms, etc which somehow had to combine to form molecules,, by way of carbon mutating to form cells-this is not something that could just occur due to happenstance. For that reason, I think of an atheist holding their child on the day of his/her birth and not believing they have just witnessed a full-on miracle, is the saddest thing I can imagine.

    • In this case, you're describing the extremists. I don't fall into any of the categories you've mentioned. I just don't have religion. Never have.

        I believe there will be those saved out of several denominations or religions, as long as they are born again in Christ and follow His teachings. To me, the ones that throw up a red flag are the ones that say everyone is going to hell but those that belong to our religion.

  • There are TONS of Christian/Religious (other religions)/Spiritual/Theistic programming AND tv and cable channels.

    This is not a "problem" for me as atheists should have programming that suits them, especially during certain times of the year, where they can go ahead and watch this and not go into convulsions when Christmas and Easter (etc) specials or commercials or programming comes along on the other channels.

    On real atheists and those who may be a little bit angry (which I call anti-theists), this should help pacify them and stop some of the b*tching from the angry ones.

    As long as I am not being forced to watch it and as long as it will be easy for me to ignore it or to have it out of my cable listing if I want to.... I don't have a "problem" with it.

    I do expect that sadly real atheists will not be completely in charge and this will be an anti-theist and anti-religious people channel. However, I don't have to look at it nor mind it.

    There is the LOGO channel that I completely avoid and I don't have to look at it, I am not going to hate that gays (and the rest) have a channel that caters to their needs. I don't hate on ESPN nor Spike TV (which had/has ridiculous and in some cases gross programming directed for men) and I completely hate but absolutely avoid porn channels and they have no place in my home as they are not turned on so to speak. So I have my choices of what I do want to see and what I don't want to see and I am good and everyone else should be good too.

    Now... for most of us this is not going to make us ape crazy, lets see what the Muslims' response is going to be. Muslims hate atheists as much as they hate... well... everyone else.

    Is it a sign of the times? Sure why not? Like I said though as long as we have choices, it is what it is and this is a choice for them, which is never a bad thing for everyone to have as many choices as possible to pursue their happiness.

    Once that type of programming tries to be all the programming that there is or my choices start to be muddled and pestered with, then we are going to have a problem.

    • The drawback is that you subsidize these channels because of packaged programing. Much of the programing undesirable to the majority would fold if it had to stand on its own.

      • My problem is, the cable company never polls the subscribers to see what channels they want. If they did, and the adjusted the lineup accordingly, they would be more profitable. Instead of offering stupid channels nobody watches, they could offer a lineup of what everyone wants, and dump at least 1/2 to 2/3 of the channels.

      • That is true, however, I am still not forced to see it. With that said if I feel very strongly about it I can move on to another company where I can get rid of it, speak to my current company and get rid of the offensive channels, or not have cable/tv at all. There are a lot of things that I subsidized unwillingly (like abortions) through tax money which I hate but there is nothing that I can physically do about it. However of course not at all happy with it nor content and in cases like that wish to change.

        This however doesn't bother me because atheists and the like have the same rights as me to have choices of programming. Since I am not being asked to watch it, I can easily avoid it.

        • It bothers me. Just think of the money saved if you only get what you want and only paid for what you get.

          • I do agree with that, but that is something that I feel in general not because of certain channels and my disagreeing with their message. I have no need of ESPN nor Spike nor Bravo nor CNN nor MSNBC nor Al Jazeera (although I am not sure I actually have it)... I can go on.

    • An absolute excellent set of points, KQ. If one is offended, then turn the stinkin' channel but don't force this (or any other channel) off the air just because you disagree.

  • If they wanted an atheist TV channel why did they have to create it? Couldn't they just wait for it to happen purely by accident?

    • You're suggesting an atheistic TV channel would arise via Darwinist evolution? Intriguing. Instead, the atheists went ahead and created it, via Intelligent Design.

      • JP, my only problem with your theory is the word "Intelligent" being used with this bunch of douchebags.

      • It's even tougher than mere Darwinism. Darwinist evolution can only begin occurring after life starts existing... accidentally.

        • How can life exist accidentally? THIS perfectly? :-/ I understand that is even mathematically impossible and the last time I checked mathematics is considered a high form of intelligentsia (that is to say not based on the silly Bible thing).

      I have a feeling this new station will be as popular as the lib radio network, "Air America."
