Only a true stupid dip shit would come up with this hair brained idea. Burned them out once, they wont come back. The mayor should take a trip down 95 or 270 to DC. There are part of it that have not been re-built since the 68 riots.
Businesses assume certain risks. Having a mayor permit looting and burning is not in any business model that I've ever seen.
I guess the Dems think they can force businesses to reopen.
Jesse Jackson thinks that business should be FORCED to stay in black areas. I doubt he is alone on the left in thinking that.
That "small business disaster area" the mayor is talking about provided jobs for people, probably the same people who burned it down. Where are the good folks in the neighborhood, who want to work, going to get a job now Madam Mayor?
Do any of the clowns running Baltimore really think anyone would want to open a business in that area of town again? Are they really that stupid? Nobody in their right mind would open a business in a neighborhood where it might be looted and burned at any time, for no reason at all.
Instead of pardoning the curfew violators, why not sentence them to community service to go to your "small business disaster area," cleanup, and help rebuild?

Not all. Many leftist run cities are doing quite well. San Francisco, Seattle, Portland are doing fine, you wouldn't or couldn't afford to live there. Other cities like Detroit, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Chicago,....not doing so well.
This may sound racist but oh well, the truth is what it is. San Fran, Seattle and Portland do not have inner city slums, populated by a majority of blacks, that the cities in the east have. That doesn't mean they are doing all that much better.
One brother lives in Portland, mom is up there now visiting and checking out her new great-grandchild, and he has seen many changes in the last 35 or so years he has lived there.
The cost of living is so high that many cannot afford decent housing so gooberment subsidized housing is being built all over town, the slums are growing. Little bro is sitting on a gold mine. He lives in a house, a "single family" home on a big lot with a nature preserve behind him. Single family homes cannot be built in Portland anymore, only high occupancy dwellings like condos. One with two bedrooms cost more than twice what he paid for his home. He can easily get $500,000 for a house he paid less than $60 grand for.
The city cannot afford to fix many city streets anymore, they have spent too much on subsidized housing and public transportation. Because the city did not try to keep up with growth, and it rains a lot, many neighborhoods flood out due to poor drainage control. They have a hard time keeping city cops because their pay scale has not kept up with the cost of living. The same is true with teachers in the public schools. Private, tuition based schools are the rage, it's the only way kids can get a decent education.
The list goes on but I'm sure you get my point. West coast cities are disasters waiting to happen. When the inevitable breakdown happens the race baiters like Sharpton or the Obummer will not be able to blame it on "white" privilege, it will be whites doing the rioting.
Yeah, I lived in Portland for awhile. Worked at the Meier and Frank where Clark Gable used to work before he became famous.
Love Powell's bookstore, but as much as I love reading, any bookstore that takes up a whole city block and is 3 stories tall is fine with me. It broke my heart when they closed the Henry Weinhards brewery downtown.
I really loved the city, but the infestation of liberals finally drove me out. Well, that and trying to earn a living wage.

Can't speak for Portland or Seattle, but San Francisco may be doing okay money wise, but it is still a shithole. having been there recently I got to admire the panhandlers, feces on the street (human) a couple of naked people and people trying to sell you everything from watches to dope. If that is "doing fine" I want no part of it....
Meanwhile all the small businesses will move out of town because they won't be eligible due to their insurance contracts.
So, they'll be rebuilding space that will remain unoccupied, because the businesses won't come back?
That's great, more empty storefronts to get broken windows and graffiti.
It will be a financial boon to the area though, because stolen building materials and equipment, fetch a decent price in the underground economy.
And nice new empty buildings for the homeless to crash in, the druggies to turn into crack houses.
Might as well rebuild, they'll need something to burn when all those big screens get sold for crack and they need new ones

In other words the tax payers once again have to pay for the race card played by not only Baltimore but the obama administration. The thugs burned it down, looted (because they had a card blanch to do so) and now instead of letting them sit in the nest they crapped in, the American tax payers have to rejuvenate their neighborhood, this nonsense is pathetic, blame it all on white privilege once again.
