Bananas are a great source for several nutrients. Potassium is one of em and they deliver it in a way the body can quickly put it to use. I love em. The kids love em. They stretch the fruit smoothies a good distance and used to be economical.
Everything is more than twice the price it was 5 or 6 years ago. Bacon is going to skyrocket, never mind the reports of only a 7% increase in the coming months. It will be worse than twice that by autumn if they don't get a handle on this -

Nope, I too have had the bananas that taste like apples. They are good. I've also had sweet lemons.

nope. The bananas are smaller in size. There are number of varieties of them. You have lived a sheltered life, or shopped in the wrong grocery stores.
I don't shop in those stores because they don't have a Trader Joe's or Whole Foods by me, not that I would shop there if they did.
I don't shop at either place. My neighbor grows them, and I can get them at the farmers market. The are small, fat and very sweet. Firmer than regular bananas. They are rather yummy.

typically you will find them in hispanic stores or stores that have a variety of foreign foods. The sweet lemons are the ones that are difficult to find. When they have them, they are gone in 60 seconds.
I've been to Hispanic produce stores here (Tampa metro area) but didn't see anything like that. Mostly Cubans here if that makes a difference.
Thta's weird, I'd just read about the blight earlier today because the Ripley's BION mentioned that bananas do not grow on actual trees at all, but are a very large herb. The Wiki article verifies that and also discussed the blight.
Glad I kicked my banana habit. Bamboo is easier to light... and it burns longer.

Fungus is not an insect. More likely we have eliminated some bacteria or something that usually keeps the fungus in check. It's a ll about dependency in Nature.
