Pathologically altruistic ideologies: Beware the mob that advocates fairness. History shows that the results are often not pretty. “The Occupy movement seeks to make things fair for everyone, not by allowing people to flourish with their natural talents, but rather by focusing on and tearing down anyone who has more—more talent, more industriousness, more intelligence and, often as a consequence of these natural qualities, more possessions.” Occupy that.

You know... It really is quite sad how most of you don't even stop to think before you TD, MO. Some of those comments were completely neutral statements and yet, just because it's me, 2-3 downvotes. For what? I haven't downvoted any of you ONCE. Show a little respect for open debate will you?

Fairness is libspeak for "Gimme all your money".
That's your opinion.
That is your opinion that what he said was his opinion. See how this works?
Yes it's circular reasoning. I'll stick to the facts now. Thank you.
Try to avoid facts, they'll just confuse you.
Facts? Really? Have you ceded your property to Mexico yet?
I don't own property here, the government does. They wouldn't let me do that for Mexico's government unless I started some kind of campaign for a whole state to disassociate itself from the U.S. Which would be pretty easy for California, due to the fact that it can be a country of its own and most of the people here from the Central Valley and down are Latino. Trust me... if the U.S. farmers didn't have the immigrants to exploit for cheap hard labor, they would exploit you. Just like they exploited the Africans and Chinese back in the day.
So then you're an employee of the Mexican government?
No I don't work for any government institution.
Well played, I gave you a tu for the sleight of hand. I missed it the first time.
But you are Mexican?
No, I am not Mexican.
Of course by "you" I don't mean you personally. I would mean those of European descent.
I am of European decent, unless you don't consider Italy and Germany part of Europe.
Italy is a jewel of the Mediterranean, regardless of how many subpar governments its had to endure. I would love to retire in Sicily. And Europe wouldn't be Europe without the Mediterranean.
Anyone who thinks they are allowed to own property here in this country is delusional. Just try not paying the rent to the government, and see how long you stay on the property. (property taxes)
Me too. My grandfather was born there. I still have quite a few family members in Palermo, Rome, and Naples.
No they are haha. Let me elaborate further. If the entire illegal immigrant population were to go back to Mexico or wherever, and those of European descent started working on farms, the farmers would still be looking for ways to get the most out of their workers with the least amount of expenditure. It's a highly unregulated business, and a dog eat dog world.
Well that's because it's okay if they push for their rights. But when Cezar Chavez pushed for it, there was an uproar of conflict and they saw him as a radical threat and menace. In fact, many farmers here and now still see him as such.
Actually, i think regulation pressure would certainly follow, if more of those populations worked in that industry
Liberal fairness, all for me and none for thee.
Merely opinion.
You have data to prove it wrong?
It would take some time to conjure up the data due to the fact that it's ultra vague and directed toward liberal extremists, which are just as bad as conservative extremists. But as we can all see you have yet to provide any data yourself.
Another leftist who thinks the best answer to a question is another question.
There are no questions in that comment.
A question or a challenge, same thing.
Not necessarily.
In other words, no.
The biggest mob touting fairness is led by Mastercard Pelosi, the-war-is-lost Reid, and of course Chairman O. Be very afraid of this one.
Standard socialist procedure. There's not enough resources to make everyone equal by making everyone rich, or even reasonably well off. So, to equalize everyone, the producers must be town down.
Actually there are enough resources in the San Joaquin Valley in California alone to care for the world and easlily feed it 3 times a day. But yeah if everyone wants to be a spoiled rotten ignorant brat, Socialism wouldn't work.

Where is the incentive to produce if there is no reward. Please cite one time and place where such an economic system has succeeded?
Out of altruism, and the reward is free unconditional housing and healthcare and education for children which has served Cuba pretty well compared to when they were a puppet government under us and Batista. But spoiled brats don't like altruism. They feel superior and entitled to things because they're "self made." That's why the financial blockade was imposed on the Cubans by us.
The U.S. conservative officials have intervened in every attempt to turn any establishment in the world into a socialist or communist one. But I'll give you an example of how socialism worked: the U.S. government regulations in businesses since strikes and worker union movements took a leap forward in their revolution. You get your weekend, 8 hour day, child labor laws, benefits etc.
Yea, why don't you ask the people in Cuba about how great are those free corrugated steel huts that blow away every time they get a breeze, leaving them homeless. Wonderful education that gets them a job for 12 pesos a week, when it costs them 40 pesos to eat. Healthcare to keep you alive and producing but barely anything resembling a quality life.
Yes, Cuba is a model that the world should strive for. That's why so many people are risking their lives to get there.
Oh wait! They're coming here!
I'm telling you they're doing the best they can with what the United States will let them work with. That's how economic imperialism works. By the time the Cuban revolution was over, the United States was already a world power built on the resources the overthrow of smaller governments provided them with. We now now those places as the third world. World powers arise from exploiting smaller nations out of resources, just like individual human power comes from exploiting those with less prestigious positions. Now Cuba can't do business with any of the business allies of the U.S. why? Because of a bias... the spread of a system that encourages equality. That means loss of power. It's not something conservative leaders are willing to do. Plus Cuba doesn't partake in any of the methods of exploiting other nations. They provided help to those fighting for their rights, but never with the intent of imposing debt. That's why they're poor. They're being fair when the rest of the world isn't.
I know many people who came here from Cuba. They told me they don't starve there because of the campaigns they have to feed the people. They have proper housing that is repaired for free when something goes wrong. It's just not luxurious. That's why people come here: for BETTER things. Power. Imbalance.
Turds of a different variety. Funny, they smell the same.
You asked, "So now it's our fault they're failing?"
They wanted to be rid of us. Yes. They don't need to do business with us necessarily. But the financial blockade was not just stopping them from doing business with us, but with all those who do business with us as well (most of the world). Please note, we are a superpower and we will wreck those who "betray" us or our allies/puppets economically. For example, companies who do business with Palestine instead of Israel are completely shunned and suppressed by us. It's a world-wide gang up. So now the few countries who don't like our methods of overthrow, debt, and installation of puppet governments in other countries have to help each other out on their own. But I'll tell you, Cuba is way better off than those small countries who DID give into our demands. Which they WERE, before the revolution. Just because they don't have all the technology we have, doesn't mean they can't survive just fine on their own.
It's tough to get the things we have here when they don't controll the oil kingdoms. Since OPEC didn't like our imposition of the dollar on them, we can thank the overthrow of oil-rich Iraq for our "advancement" as an oil product country. And now there's 2,500,000,000 barrels worth of oil under Uganda that we're after. Cause for 25 years, Kony was active and we didn't get involved until the oil discovery of 2010. Patterns my friend. Patterns.
And you're right about the dictatorship part. The founding fathers would not have liked that aspect. But in war, unarmed citizens tend to get killed. I mean... We can most definitely see the video evidence of that with our troops in Iraq. Wikileaks disclosed it quite rawly.
We haven't kept others from going to Cuba. There were 2 people here a week or so ago that are from England and were talking about their vacations in Cuba.
The murderer of civilians I was talking about were killed after the revolution was over. Look up La Cabana.
Everyone who kills is a murdurer and a criminal. It just depends on the cause and bias of the ones who hold power whether or not they are praised or shunned.
Which makes the Castro brothers and Che war criminals and murderers.
You know what? I totally agree with you there. It's basically just those who don't agree with those in power. Same deal in all countries, organizations, gangs, and social groups.
Amazing who is considered a traitor when there is no international oversight.
There's no problem with going to Cuba. Only trading with the government there.
"La Cabaña was used as a military prison during the Batista regime. In January 1959, rebels led by Che Guevara captured La Cabaña, to use it as a headquarters and military prison for several months, while leading the Cuban revolution. During his five-month tenure in that post (January 2 through June 12, 1959), Guevara oversaw the revolutionary tribunals and executions of suspected war criminals, political prisoners, traitors, chivatos (informants), and former members of Batista's secret police."

Sounds like any other government procedure against so called "traitors." Must we be reminded of the Guantanamo Bay, U.S. scandal? When you compare that stuff to us back then, the whole racism thing in the south was going on. Police were killing people just over race. And in 1922, I mean, we were the only country in the world who still burned people at the stake. Why is La Cabaña suddenly so bad? Those people were promoting elitism in Cuba when the conditions of those who needed help were just starting to improve.
So, what you're telling me is that Cuba cant thrive economically without help from the US? What about their sponsors in the USSR and China? How did we become responsible for their economic failure when they wanted to be rid of our influence?
No nation can fairly thrive economically without help. It's either they thrive through help, or by conquering. The USSR wasn't even behaving as a socialist country. They just had it in the name, but their actions were cognitively dissonant from it. China's on the verge of becoming a power right now. What about our numerous recessions and the great depression? Every country has their downfalls.
You failed again. Cuba wanted to be rid of US influence and embraced communism. So now it's our fault that they are failing? You can't have it both ways. They wanted to be like the USSR and now they are, but we're to blame. How does that work?
Maybe you don't understand me. I said you failed not them. They wanted to be rid of us, and be friends with the Russians and Chinese. They didn't get the support they depended on, and struggled for a long time.
Our Founding Fathers would not have liked them because Castro, Guevara, et al were brrutal dictators, that murdered unarmed people.
It's not that they're failing. Worst case scenareo they're plateaued. They're just not like us. For an independent nation that's being ganged up on, they're doing pretty darn well.
You fail to consider what they're going up against and how recently they set up that system. It's tough, but they stand up to bullies like champs. Our founding fathers would have liked them, revolutionaries for the people and all.
Oh, good another occupier coming here to share Marxist nonsense with us.
Unions drive unemployment, I will let you mull that one over.
Have you ceded your property yet?
I have nothing to do with the occupy movement. It's just another protest with many ignorant mindless people looking to fulfill life purpose. But Marxism is not complete nonsense. Neither is capitalism. Like all systems of politics and economics, it has it's flaws as well as its good points. It's important to take what's useful from all sides and combine them into something better... learning from the parts that didn't work from all the systems.
Care to share how unions drive unemployment?
That is your HW assignment. I'm pleased that you are curious. Reference: "Economics in One Lesson"
Yeah, Cuba's doing great. Now, which way was that raft floating?
Ugh. Failure to learn from history is rampant among the idiotic.
That has to be the worst researched story I've seen, and considering this site, that's quite a feat.
Eric don't worry , hopefully as the synapse in your brain cells develope , you , with GOD's help don't end up like most good Democrats , thinking , talking and acting like the prime example of Libtard developement , Rep. Johnson of Ga.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0AEmBeqPAE
As a fellow libtard , the greatness of his speech must bring you and most other tards to spontanious tears or maybe a tingle up one of your legs ( in your particular case , the middle ) . Granted this is not as good as seeing a naked Obama riding on a unicorn , but in the real world , this might have to do . Regards.
That's the dopiest comment you made to date, and considering the utter stupidity and banality of your posts, it's quite a feat.
Yes, it does seem he strives to out do himself, and succeeds admirably.
Eric is a slow-moving train-wreck.
Intellectually, he's a stationary train wreck.
You were so happy to find IHTM the other week and now you are sour.

"Mobs beat people to death for anything that provoked their jealousy or ire—thinking differently, possessing too much, or simply falling afoul of someone who could use the excuse of revolutionary ideals to kill and take possession of another’s property."
Quick -- French Revolution or Occupy Oakland?!?
"Pathological Altruism" sounds like an awesomely devastating book.
