Big Sis shuts down public use of police scanner communication. More testing the waters to see what DHS can get away with? I wonder where the ACLU is? This seems like a violation of the 1st Amendment to me. Typical of an administration that would like to see the Constitution in the shredder.

Just another step toward the concentration camps that barry's mentors have wanted all along. As for the ACLU, they are all for this and why not. They are a communist founded group hell bent on destroying this country from with in.
I hate to admit that Nikita Khrushchev was right. This country will be destroyed by its enemies from with in, with the ACLU and the Southern Poverty League leading the charge.
When you stop laughing at Deep thinker about his reference to concentration camps, I recommend you take a look at a book called Behold the Pale Horse. Sometimes a little out there. but hedocuments his claims very clearly and completely. There are already plans in place for FEMA to take over and to place people in what are essentially POW camps without the war.

Someone once asked me what I would do if the government officials came to take me away. They where not prepared for the response they got.
What I told them was this. "It's better to die standing up, than cower in the corner with the boot of oppression firmly affixed to the back of your neck slowly suffocating the life out of you."
Now I’m not some anti government individual. Actually I’m a duly sworn officer who sees many things first hand.
America has treated its government as benign leaders. Mistake. We have been lulled into a false sense f security. I do not, at this point, recommend revolution. But Americans need to understand that this is a very different government than the one that was established originally, and that this one depends on the naivete of the populace, and their ability to placate everyone with bread and circuses (food stamps, and Congress, for instance.) Be aware, look for signs and if the governemnt moves any closer to running the entire country (as opposed to true governance) step up and do your part. I am sure that 1) Olivia is now reserving a room for me at the local psychiatirc facility and 2) I am now on an official CIA watch list. My phone is probably being tapped as we speak. Oh, well. They did it before, I suppose it was inevitable they would do it again-the last time? WHen LBJ was President!

In reality, there are dozens of good reasons for "real time" police communications to be scrambled every day, and it doesn't take a genius to determine what they are.
Telegraphing your moves or giving your opponent your playbook is the surest way to lose the game, but far be it for some to understand such a simple analogy. To in any way believe that anyone as a citizen has the "Right" to law enforcement information during an emergency situation or tactical run against today's "high tech" adversaries is unbelievably short-sighted and selfish far beyond belief.
All police and fire communications are available to anyone at any time through the Freedom of Information Act after the fact, and to not know that is to make yourself look silly by advancing some ACLU idea that there's some conspiracy going on. Praise the Lord and pass the tin foil people, this whole debate is really trying to making something out of nothing.
Um, they HAD scrambling capability. This is quite different. Try reading it again. I still question whether it actually came down from DHS, but it is still somewhat disturbing.
I still listen to my scanner once in a while. Any electronic wizard can make a scanner to trunk those calls. Gubment will have a helluva time trying to bypass these folks. This stuff doesn't surprise though. I swear the revolution is on it's way.
I have a scanner app on my Droid cellphone. It's always been kind of interesting to listen to the chatter as they chase down a perp, running through town, desperately trying to hold his pants up.
Its funny... when our rights really are getting plowed under the bus (ie, TSA patdowns, now this) the ACLU is eerily silent. But when we want to use our first amendment rights to wish others a merry Christmas, WOMP! smack down!

Remember that Christians are terrorists and "Merry Christmas" said in a business is actually terrorist code for "Let's bomb this establishment on December 25th". So the ACLU is really looking out for us and prevent terrorist attacks by the crazy Christians who are the worst terrorists groups this world has every seen. You know how those Christians during the Christmas season increase their terrorist attacks and decapitate the heathen of the world. We can't allow those Christians to be saying "Merry Christmas" to individuals either as that is actually the same as saying "I declare that you are now going to be hunted and killed for being a heathen." Christians are dangerous people I tell you. They need to be stopped...

Hmm. I don't want to be a spoilsport, but re: my above, I checked over every actual story I could find, and NOTHING seems to indicate/corroborate the idea that this cam down from DHS. Not to impugn the veracity of " local news talk radio station, AM 690", but so far I am seeing nothing to indicate this is anything but Sheriff Justice out getting them Duke boys.
I am very frightened if this actually did come down from DHS. Not so much if it's just some Buford T. Justice throwing his weight around.
