Billie Joe smashes guitar, more entertaining than had he actually been playing it

Greed Day’s Billie Joe smashes guitar and shouts expletives as band’s performance time is slashed to ONE minute. A one minute performance? This American idiot’s girlfriend should be so lucky. Although watching him smash a guitar is certainly preferable to listening as he tries to play one.

      • R&B stylist, or phaker? And while I have you, been looking for a R&B, maybe a good Blues primer if you have one. History, so I can start at the heart of it all. Not trying to be an ass , but have been looking for some good blues, R&B to get me up to speed. It's new to me and I like it, to use a cliche, it 'speaks to me'.

        Not being a dic, really like to know some real roots... some of the old stuff I've stumbled on is really good. And the SRV guitar vid I watch is awesome.

          If you are into blues based rock, I would look into BB King, Buddy Guy, John Lee Hooker, Robert Cray, Johhny Lang,Waren Haynes(Gov't Mule & The Allman Bros.) & work out from those types of acts. Which can lead to stuff like ZZ Top, Ted Nugent, Joe Walsh, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, & some AC/DC. Much of the slinky string bending stuff you hear in what I listen to, comes form old school blues guys. You will be amazed by who can play bluesy guitar stuff. Vince Gill is 1 of the best, John 5 can do that as well, & if you are into Clapton, he'll do it too.

          • I was at a Renfaire a few years back, and they were getting a band ready for an after-hours concert on a Saturday night. Seems the lead singer was late, some kind of alcohol related problem. To keep us entertained, the bass player was just playing what he felt, mostly bluesy stuff, and we were all lovin' it.

            Then the lead singer showed up, the band went into Death Metal mode, and most of left, getting as far away as possible.

        • start with pentatonic, find your blues note, and keep the whiskey flowin'.. the rest is all in your ear

          at least it sounded good to me years back

  • Green Day never did anything for me, AT ALL. They were a punk band who started to write radio friendly hits & hired a decent guitarist to sharpen up their sound because Armstrong is very limited as a guitarist. Since punk is about 3 chords, & he knows little beyond them, they tour with a 4th.

    In other words, Green Day = sellout. Problem is, they do sellout many of the venues they play.

    • LOL, I agree with your assessment whole heartedly. Punk was always something that I treated like sugar. It was nice in small doses but it could never form the basis of a healthy music diet. And I figured that whenever I was in the mood to listen to anything like them I'd go to the bands they'd ripped off . . . Stiff Little Fingers and The Buzzcocks.

      • Punk was always too political for my tastes. Whether I agree or not, I want to be entertained, not get political messages.

  • That meltdown was nothing compared to the one Zero will have in January. Plus he will have writers cramps from signing all the pardons.

  • Popularity is soooo fleeting, isn't it Billy Joe. I bet if screamed racism he would have gotten more time.

  • Green Day used to do a bunch of anti-war, Bush bashing, but they seemed to lose interest in that when Obama came in. I'll never forget Sheryl Crow going from support the troops to anti-war when Clinton was followed by W. Bush.
