I always wondered why that didn't become national. I assume that part of the reason was the gruesome nature of the crimes. Most disturbing crime I have ever read about.

KQ I find it particularily odd that this shooting took place on Feb 26. I thought it was recent (a week or so old) until I started to research it. Why wait a month to bring this up and then start to make all the fuss over it. This should not even be a national news story, it's a local matter, let Florida deal with it. The governor has appointed a special prosecutor let him/her do their work. I just don't understand WHY bring this much turmiol to a story that's now a month old.
I have stated it several times already. I even posted this news story several weeks ago (closer to when it happened) and no one here said anything about it. Your research should have told you that at the time of the death they did not arrest Zimmerman and the Chief of Police (who has resigned) pretty much stated it was a closed cased. They DID NOT INVESTIGATE Martin's death to the fullest extent that they should have. The family did not believe Zimmerman's account and wanted justice for his son, at the very least for the police and law enforcement to investigate. Their refusal to investigate (and to release the 911 call at the Martin parent's request) for WEEKS lead to this national hysteria. It has been stated MANY TIMES that had the police released the tapes when they were FIRST asked by the parents AND investigated even if they were not going to arrest Zimmerman at the moment this entire situation could have been avoided. That is why the police have a fault here. Even if they were not going to arrest Zimmerman, they should have not considered this an open and shut case either. Later I found out that indeed the story of Zimmerman being beaten by Martin was out there BEFORE this national issue happened as well (reason why they wanted to consider this an open and shut case). However they did not release the 911 tape which states that Zimmerman was following Martin. Once the police FINALLY after much pressure released the tape, they found that Zimmerman was following Martin. This put a great deal of disbelief that Martin just up and accosted Zimmerman for no reason. The police still refused to fully investigate and arrest Zimmerman and the parents, especially the Mother, in desperation went to the media and Obama et al started talking crap. The Mother even stated that she did not believe this was a black/white issue, but an issue of justice and many others have stated the same. A lot of people made a lot of mistakes even Martin himself, the catalyst of the problem though was Zimmerman, after he killed Martin the catalyst of the national news cycle were the cops refusal to investigate.
You have astutely pointed out exactly what the governmedia is doing at this time and with any story they can use to distract the people from the issues that will make significant differences in the next several months. They could have a serious surprise in store for us if we don't stop watching the carrots they dangle keeping our attention off the finish line.
This horrific event needs to play out in the background, not the bad shape of everything the administration is screwing down in their desire to put a cap in the US ass, so to speak.

"Never let a crisis go to waste." I was encouraged that decisiveness and race relations were coming along nicely until 2008, now everything is totally in the toilet. What a disgrace this administration is.
But of course, Slimy Al Sharpton won't miss a chance to make a buck on a tragedy.
That is why Martin's Mother stated that this is not a racial issue. It is an issue about justice. I am surprised that no one here has posted her words. Overall, I believe the Martins made a mistake in allowing Sharpton to speak for them. I saw her and she looked like a desperate woman who is doing all that she can to get justice for her child. It is such a pitiable situation indeed.
