Bono: “Capitalism takes more people out of poverty than aid” We had to do a double take when we saw the headline. It appears that Bobo Bozo Bono has finally awakened to the fact that “aid” is a fancy word for “redistribution of wealth” which evidently is perfectly OK unless it’s his wealth that may be redistributed.

People who undergo conversions are usually the most passionate. Look at David Mamet. The Hollywood writer was a big lib for 50 years and then figured it out. He might be the most articulate conservative thinker in the country.
Sort of a non sequitur but the most effective debaters are usually able to argue both sides of an issue. Understanding libs by having been in their ranks could prove to be instrumental in finding someone who can take apart the agenda- though there is the need to effectively communicate to penetrate the propaganda which shackles the brains of the LIVs.
Mamet's book, "A Secret Knowledge" is written from the POV you describe. That is he dismantles liberalism from the inside out.
The key is to be able to guide the average voter into dismantling it him/herself. I'll need to keep an eye out for that writing.

Enjoy the book. Very well written but Ghost is right, be prepared to use a dictionary. Mamet is an incredible wordsmith.

One thing struck me about the blurb shown on the page:

I understand the feelings about liberalism but find that kind of narrative to be excessively divisive. It's one thing to engage in insulting liberalism and liberals in an echo chamber such as this but if one wishes to actually erode their numbers I imagine that there are more effective ways to do so than throwing insults that seem more likely to further entrench people in opposing views than in leading them to see matters in a different (more honest) light- though I should consider that Mamet is likely more interested in selling books than he is in helping to chart a less destructive course for the country.
Call me excessively cynical but while I would anticipate his writings to ring true should I choose to buy his book (I'll keep an eye out for it used... perhaps on eBay) I suspect that a main factor in his career as a marketable author who has been evangelized by the gospel according to conservatism might be the enduring presence of viral liberalism- which he could need in order to sell more books.
It's a good read and I'll pass along Kick's advice from a year or so ago when he turned me on to it, "have a dictionary handy, you'll learn some new words".
I found it online at my County library and borrowed it for 2 weeks without leaving my chair, can't beat the price. (inflation, ya know?) And went back a couple months ago and grabbed it for a few hours to reread and check something.
And even if he doesn't totally believe everything he writes, my old logic teacher would love him to death, he builds his arguments like a stone mason. Just try to knock one down, he didn't "cheat".
Oh man, now I know things are coming to an end. A once liberal socialist now a capitalist who has stated the truth. He won't be getting an invite to dinner with quagmire and the wookie any time soon.
I'm not sure he ever was economically left. Socially and politically, to a degree, absolutely.
He's was still in denial, but now has to be careful about what he says, won't be invited to all the best to do's and be a pariah in his "sphere". Not to mention costing them sales and royalties.
He's not stupid, but it's been funny watching him "walk the line" and speak truthfully without urinating off his "consumers". A fine line.

Indeed! He was talking to Bill Maher or someone. He was like, I can't believe I'm saying this, but capitalism is the mechanism with which to fight poverty... Or some such. It was before Christmas. Buuuuuuut.... We didn't hear about it much because the LSM view him as a wayward soul...
He saw how little the aid given to Africa actually helped (or got to those in need).
A conservative talk radio guy says this & gets castigated by the idiots at MSNBC or the Sunday talk shows. Bono, he'll be dismissed as being "just a rock star".
