Book tells Muslim men how to beat and control their wives

• Classic right wing gullibility. They have no opinion to express on that right wing pastor who recommended physical abuse for young sons who don't act macho enough----"Dads, the second you see your son dropping the limp wrist, you walk over there and crack that wrist. Man up. Give him a good punch. Ok? You are not going to act like that. You were made by God to be a male and you are going to be a male"----but if it's a right wing Muslim advocating physical punishment/control? All of a sudden, they're capering with indignation.

  There are cranks and extremists in every religion. In many cases, those cranks get a lot of media attention, and sell a lot of books. It doesn't necessarily mean that what they're teaching is a part of their religion's doctrine, or that many who follow that religion believe in what they're saying.

  • What is 'classic right wing mentality'. There are a lot of right wings. They are decided by the society and time within which one exists. You are making me sad with your stupidity. I sure hope you have a smoking body. Because you are making it hard to love you for your mind.

• The wife is to obey her husband in all righteousness. The husband may sit down with his wife and explain to her the importance of her obedience to him, scold his wife, if these ways of correction do not improve her conduct, then lightly spank her without marks on the skin and make her repeat what she is to do over and over again.

• Anybody my age will certainly remember a book entitled "The Joys of Sex," and consequently the last section about dealing with aggression: i.e., about dealing with who got to be on top...I remember something about a pillow fight to determine whose turn it was. I don't know, it's been a very long time, but I remember a pillow fight...you know, something that didn't leave lasting scars. Is there a chapter like that in this islamic marraige counseling book?

  • I'll treat this book like "The Joys of Sex," meaning that I'll just wait for the movie.

    • "Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Sex" made a pretty hilarious movie! I loved the bit with Tony Randall and Burt Reynolds in the "brain room." Funny stuff!

    • Actually Miss K, I remember when the book came out. I was too young to care, but if I recall correctly, it was quite controversial at the time.

      BTW, NEVER underestimate a good pillow fight, as a means of foreplay or just good clean fun. :}

  For that matter, are we to understand that Michelle Obama is okay with her 2 daughters growing up and getting married to someone who believes this tripe? I guess this little book WOULD make such a great wedding present. ;-)

  • This just led me to think of something else. Can anyone see n0bama raising a stick to Michelle???....on the other hand....he sure seems to fit the mold of someone who has been pulled around by his ears quite a bit. :-)

• Never mind that. Our government needs to provide birth control free of charge and must subsidize abortions with taxpayer money or we will all be guilty of withholding proper healthcare for women. It would be absolute torture for a woman to carry a fetus to term and/or put it up for adoption if not wanted. It is not fair that a woman should risk pregnancy so close to swimsuit season.

  All of this constitutes abuse under the American system and culture.

    Now, tell me why you think it's objectionable for women to have the right to make their own medical decisions IN PRIVATE, including only the qualified health care professional(s), plus whoever else they choose to be involved.

    Tell me again why you don't want that for women.

• Hypothetical case. Let's assume for a moment that the dumbing down of the western male continues apace with 60 to 70 percent of college admissions now going to women and an even higher female graduation rate over men. So in the next 10 to 20 years, not only will most of the wealth of the country be in the hands of women but the wage gap will be referring to lower paid males vis a vis female paychecks. Let's also assume that female supremacists continue to move along the lines of VAWA, laws that force men to pay for a child that isn't theirs and divorce laws which hugely favor women.

  In such a world, wouldn't normal western ideas about chivalry be dead and Islam become a very seductive option for western men?

  • Considering that women will always be the weaker gender in manner of strenght, that women (as a whole) will not be capable (again as a whole) to rape men if they want it... Men will never be able to have babies and hence women are always at a disadvantage due to pregnancies wanted or not wanted and so many other social issues where men are at an advantage and will never be at a disadvantage I dont see that world actually happening.

  Another gift from the religion of peace...........Straight up stone age cavemen who pray to the tidy bowl man....Yet they get "offended" when they are told they can not treat women this way....
