    My "reading comprehension" is just fine, M.H., though it's certainly true that your poor spelling presents an added challenge. In your zeal to bitch about Obama, you glossed over several salient points here:

    __This bill passed OVERWHELMINGLY in the Republican-dominated House, with just three representatives opposing it. So we must look further than Obama to determine who's responsible for it.

    __No, this bill wasn't just about "anyplace in the country where a protest might occur." Nothing has changed with regard to protests. The key points here, as explained by legal professionals, are: "the law allows the Secret Service to designate what would normally be public space as a restricted area and for there to be federal prosecution of anyone who “enters or remains” in a restricted area where a person under Secret Service protection will be visiting or which is restricted in conjunction with an NSSE; or who engages in “disorderly or disruptive conduct” with the intent and effect of “imped[ing] or disrupt[ing] the orderly conduct of Government business or official functions;” or who blocks entrance to or exit from a restricted area."

    In other words, if you want to stand around screaming "OBAMA IS A GAY MUSLIN MARKSIST BABY KILLER SOSHALIST FACIST FROM KENYA!!" there is nothing new in this law preventing you from doing so.     Is it a bad law? Some say no; many others say yes, not because it covers any new ground, but because it gives law enforcement more leeway. But it's just childish and inaccurate to blame it on Obama. He merely signed it into law, after it had passed overwhelmingly in the House.

      • Speaking of that little bit of stupidity, my wife signed up for it, has paid 3 premiums already, and got a letter in the mail today telling her that they don't have enough proof of her eligibility.
        She already sent them her Birth Certificate, Pay Stubs, W-2 Forms, and Tax Returns. They say they still need Pay Stubs and Birth Certificate. They don't seem to think she was born here!
        I told her it would have been easier to get it if she was illegal!

        • Poopajoe, that's S.O.P. for insurance red tape. When I put my husband on my employer policy a few years ago (read: pre-ACA), I had to produce a marriage license, W2 forms and a mortgage statement with both of our names on it, to prove that we're still living together.

          Sorry to disappoint you, but Obama didn't create that red tape. Of course, as I recall, you don't have much experience with taking responsibility for your own health care, so you probably wouldn't have realized that.
