  • Yes, Springsteen's endorsement of Obama has energized me, I just wrote a check payable to "Romney for President. I can't write a check as big as a millionaire leftist like Springsteen can write, but every little bit helps.

    • That's the good thing about celebrity endorsements; one tool like Springsteen can be used to propel hundreds, nay thousands, of us to donate to the campaign to elect Romney and undo the works of our first (and Lord willing ONLY) affirmative action president.

      I can't remember where I saw it and I'm way to lazy to look (maybe it was here), but Kid Rock is on the Romney/Ryan wagon now, and I'm pretty sure that Robert could kick Springsteens arse. And THAT.... is something I would probably pay money to see.

  • They keep playing one of Springsteen's more recent songs during the baseball playoffs which I am absolutely sick of hearing. He sings something about "dreams" in the song. As a gazillionaire who acts like he knows about the struggles of normal people while he sings platitudes, he's the perfect Obama entertainer.

    • That is probably the biggest part of why his new music sucks.
      At least when he wrote his old stuff, it rang true because he was actually living it. Now, he is so far removed from his roots that I doubt he could find the house he grew up in. The gated mansion he lives in now is a testament to his cluelessness.

          • My cost of living is up fifteen percent a year due to all the money that had to be created to support you. Lowering corporate tax rates lowers my cost at the grocery store as all corporate taxes are passed onto the consumer. That is something that I greatly need in order to offset all the property and labor that gets confiscated in order to satisfy your greed.

          • Increase in production costs equal an increase in price indexing. All corporate taxes are a proxy tax on the consumer. There aren't enough bonuses to sustain the difference. Eventually it is absorbed by the price of the good or service. In a free market bonuses aren't an issue. Competition forces businesses to cut expenses wherever possible in order to survive in the face of the other guy that is more than willing to offer a better product for less money.

            Unfortunately we don't have a free system. We have your system John. A system that uses people like you to justify the regulations, policies and tax codes that keep the corporatist in business. So thank you John. Thanks for all the "corporate greed". Because without your system the market puts those not fulfilling the will of the invisible hand out of business. And it is your greed that thins out our pay checks and savings accounts so that you can get a free ride for the most excellent service you have provided to your corporatist masters.

            Let me break it down for you crayola. Those "bailouts meant for job growth" those hundreds of billions of dollars come from somewhere. Either they are taken from the producers or they are created out of thin air. Either scenario requires a central authority with the power of absolute control over the monetary supply as well as control over the economy and the police power of the state to enforce tax "liabilities" of the productive class.

            If the funds are gained through taxes it is a confiscation of my property because I am a member of the productive class. And any unmerited benefit to the tax eater -such as your self- comes at my expense.

            If the funds are gained through the printing presses it hurts me because an inflation of the money supply without a similar inflation of actual wealth drops the value of the dollar. This is what happens when you have more dollars competing for a static amount of product/service. My bank account is filled with dollars. My pay check is filled with dollars. The gutting of its value empties my savings of wealth while emptying my wages of the same. Given that this newly created wealth finds its way to the hand outs you subsist off of I am once again paying your fair share and being subjected to a proxy austerity enforced by the central economic authority.

            Now onto the "embezzlements" of those bailouts. In my system this does not occur. In my system there are no bailouts. Those who failed in the market are not to be rewarded with the labor and savings of others. Instead they go out of business. They cant get other jobs because of their demonstrable failires. They end up on the dole just like you. Only there isnt a dole.

            And there isnt a dole because there is no central ecnomic authority that can take from some to give out welfare of the corporate form or the type that feeds your greed.

            You see there are two types of plunderers in this system of yours. There are plunderers that offer me a an inferior product at an inflated rate. And there are plunderers like you. Those that offer nothing other than the consumption of what I have provided. You are greedy because you take what is not yours. You are greedy because you loot from others in order to purchase the goods and services of those corporations you deride. You are greedy because your demands upon the system give this cause to maintain a mechanism for central economic control. A system which, in a longe enough time line- will always become corrupt. Always remove the labor/property of some to give to others. Always benefit you to the detriment of the rest of us.

          • Except the competition created by his existing companies is what forced those smaller companies to fail allowing Romney to buy them up cheap. It's how Walmart destroyed small town business. They come in to a town, demand little to no tax rate, drive out smaller businesses so they can charge whatever they want, then still demand low to no tax rates from the city because they are all that's left.

Bain is not responsible for the companies actions that got them into trouble and in the process created a bloated work force. The turnarounds of these companies saved far far more jobs than were lost. Try to think through this. It is not complicated.

          • Bain is in the business of making money. If they bought a company, it was with the idea that they could make it profitable, such as Staples, if it wasn't possible to make it profitable, they had to cut their losses and close it. Either way, they gave an extended life to a company that had no life left. Everyone that lost their jobs from Bain closing them down, would have lost them much sooner if it weren't for Bain.

            I'll absolutely give Springsteen massive credit for his early work. 'The Wild the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle', 'Darkness on the Edge of Town', 'Born to Run', 'The River', 'Greetings from Asbury Park', 'Nebraska' . . . all really good to absolutely masterful. Unfortunately success ruined him, IMHO. Without the intellectual scope of a Dylan or Cohen this 'street poet' lost his muse when he moved into the palace and hasn't produced anything of value since.

            But yeah, Rosalita, Thunder Road . . . those are damn fine songs.
