Bush Tax Cuts: George W. Wishes They Didn’t Bear His Name

• Don't worry, in 50 years when history has proven the tax cuts worked, they'll be called the Obama tax cuts then.

• I was also surprised at this summit. I have to say I would have come forward early on.

• In case George hasn't noticed, everything from a hangnail to the massacre in Syria is his fault these days.

  Somehow, I cannot help envision that if Dems controlled everything for 100 years straight, Bush would take the blame.

  Example: The reason for the intergalactic war with Alpha-12 was because the Bush Administration was not competent enough to create a dialogue with the leadership there.

  As someone else put it, "No poor man ever gave me a job." Captial formation organizes enterprises which employ people to produce goods and services which customers WANT and are willing to pay for. Invested capital makes a profit, workers get paid for their time. Non-crony capitalism is generally a win-win-win for everybody.

    I've never been given a job by a rich man. I've been given jobs by either entrepreneurs, who lived very frugally and circulated all their cash flows through the business, or by other employees of corporations.

    The jobs are sustained by business income, not out of streams diverted from the hoarded wealth of the rich. Business income makes them rich, over time, as they take profit out. My wife goes to the specialty cake shop down the street--and she's a job creator (or a job sustainer)

    I've made some of my own money independently, and came near to hiring or contracting, but couldn't swing it without hiring some poor Indian overseas and I didn't want to go that route. If income had permitted it, i'd have done it if it made sense to do so, regardless of my personal wealth, or future encounters with higher tax brackets.

    A burgeoning middle class generates far more economic activity then a few idle rich making their investments. Money has to keep moving, not sit in slow returning investments or fly off in financial adventures overseas. Sometimes you have to kick excess capital back into play. If you don't, you have huge waves of capital sloshing around, creating bubbles, while the masses starve for a little play.

    Keepng up with the Jones' was great for the economy, and required a very solid, sated, and happy middle class. This class is dying on the vine now

      You're right, money has to be moving for people to gain benefit from it. But every time it moves, the government wants another piece of it. The old saying is true, if the government wants something to happen more often, subsidize it. If they want it to happen less often, tax it. So government doesn't want money moving and being productive. They DO want welfare families having more illegitimate children.

        I don't believe that government's motivations are as simple as that.. perhaps some pols regard their constituencies in such a fashion (we shouldn't be districting around highly welfare'd populations, then. I totally dig that). But other elements are at play too

• I'm not sure how many Germans today think that Hitler was a great man . His econmic policies nearly destroyed the German economy . The pain he inflicted on mankind , is still felt today . When REAL Americans realize what OBAMACARE really is , with the cost and burdens to those that will be forced to pay for it , the cost of human pain in paid pre-birth termination and the coming elder-termination , the coming hatrid that will be associated with Obama's name will be great .

  I never voted for either Bush's , so I'm not defending them . But the hatrid shown to GW is mostly driven by the folks that believed the cuts were in fact , stealing from them . I still hear from people whose SSI was cut $ 11 a month , that Reagan was the devil for hurting people this cruely .

  Allowing working people to keep a slightly larger part of their hard earned paychecks . An evil thought if you're one of the social pariah that believe that your paycheck is actually theirs.

• At this point, they are NOT the Bush tax cuts, but ARE the Bush era tax rates. Big difference. When everybody sees what happens if they are replaced by what Obama & the Dems want, that WILL be a tax increase. If that stays in place for a decade or so, we will refer to this period as the Obama depression.
