Bush-era whistle-blower: Obama was NSA wiretap victim in 2004. After all this time it seems mighty convenient timing to come out of the spy closet. Since he’s supposedly ratting out Bush, Obama will probably nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize while with the other hand he nominates Edward Snowden for permanent resident status at GITMO.

If true this is bad, very bad. But not as bad as say . . . performing the same sorts of spying on the Chief Justice of SCOTUS and then blackmailing him into supporting your oppressive health control.
Quagmire's boys figured that blaming the Shrub on the botched Operation Fast and Furious worked so well, lets find some smuck to finger him for this one as well. Well I have some bad news for them, until such time as they finally figure out a way to void the constitution, the whole thing has been nothing more then treason.
I have to disagree with attempting to exculpate Bush here. While there are clearly forces of gov at work behind the scenes here and they are doing a lot of underhanded things, both of these asshat presidents have abused the office and there is no excuse for that.
Sorry just because there's some secret group obfuscating a lot of these details, it doesnt excuse a president doing something unconstitutional, no matter how they try to justify it.
Nobody here has said that Bush is blameless, most of us never thought the Patriot Act was a good idea. But, if you read the original bill that Bush signed you would learn that there was specific language in the bill protecting American citizens 2nd and 4th amendment rights. Those specific protections have been taken out of the renewal bills signed by Obama. The blame lies squarely on the shoulders of everyone in both Houses that voted for the renewal bills, then shame on Obama for signing them into law.
Wasn't that the purpose of the Patriot Act? To keep track of those associating with known terrorists or terrorist organizations? Like deepthinker said, two wrongs don't make a right but Bush is not the bad guy here. Congress and the Senate have approved TWO renewals of the Act and the Obummer has signed them. We don't hear anything from the liberals blaming their Messiah for it either.
Right on time to blame Bush. Both where or are wrong for doing this. Kind of like when your parents use to tell you. Two wrongs don't make a right
Perhaps it was this incident that made 0bongo turn on America...,nah.
Seems logical if still wrong. After all, Obama was a known communist/Muslim sympathizer with ties to radical Islamists and he's a friend of Bill Ayers. Makes more sense than spying on a Fox News reporter and harassing Tea Party groups.
Agree. When you're consorting with known & convicted terrorists and you're in a position where you can cause great harm to this country, I could see a legal, rational reason to get a warrant and wiretap.
But do it legally. You wouldn't even need to lie to get the okay in this situation, but it would logged and used politically against Bush. I have learned that politics always trumps the law.
Also a known card carrying member of the New Party. What kills me is how did he get a top secret clearance? No one with his past associations should have a TS clearance let alone be president. Everyone in the position to influence his political rise negatively had to be in the tank for him.
If Bush was tapping pols, you can take it for granted that Obama has gone far beyond that.
