Bonfire of the Absurdities: After 35 year career writing software for IBM mainframes, am now self-employed contractor thinking of joining a union and striking for higher wages.     • She ALWAYS looks like that. She is a nasty, horrid, ugly woman. Maybe she could be pretty, but her hatefulness pushes through her pores and makes her so unattractive.

  • The belittling comments about bayonets, and horses shows O's lack of knowledge about military operations because they were both used in Afghanistan.

    Without protection, an aircraft carrier is extremely vulnerable. That's why aircraft carriers never leave home alone. They are always escorted by an extensive flotilla of other ships (carrier battle group).

    O called a submarine a ship that goes underwater. The Navy considers all vessels ships; however, submarines are historically referred to as boats due to the nature of the first submarines. A boat in Naval terminology is a vessel that is launched or tended from a larger ship. The earliest submarines required support vessels to maintain and launch them, hence they were termed boats.
    Technology progressed to the point where they became independent vessels unto themselves, the traditional name stuck, though the Navy itself doesn't make a distinction - a ship is ship even if it's a black sewer pipe with a nuclear reactor that travels underwater. It's not just the tradition though - all submariners are keen on distinguishing themselves from skimmers (surface ship types), and using "boat" rather than ship is one way of doing that.

    Altogether a pretty lame argument for less ships.

      • I love how El-Rushbo has used that song for the 20 plus years he's been a national host despite the fact she haaaaaaaaaaaates it. He pays to use it, & there is nothing she can do about it. The money goes to some animal charity, if I remember correctly.
