Census Bureau: Means-tested gov’t benefit recipients outnumber full-time year-round workers

Census Bureau: Means-tested gov’t benefit recipients outnumber full-time year-round workers. “That means there were about 1.07 people getting some form of means-tested government benefit for every 1 person working full-time year round.” What are those still working waiting for? Last one on the bread line gets… well, nothing since there’ll be no one left to make any.

Bonfire of the Absurdities: After 35 year career writing software for IBM mainframes, am now self-employed contractor thinking of joining a union and striking for higher wages. Cured morbid fear of heights when I learned to look at them as lengths standing on end. Uncompromising in refusal to accept browser cookies. Amateur investor who has accumulated a small fortune in the market after starting out years ago with a large one. For recreation, I run, hike, kayak and play tennis but will not consider synchronized swimming under any circumstances.

  • OH! OH! WAIT!!
The census bureau did this study?
Does that mean Crowley had another temporary job?

WAIT! Of course there will be bread, the goobermint prints money, why can't they print er bake bread? They could just pay the new owners of Wonder/Hostess, the Bimbo company in Mexico, to bake it for us! Then the transformatiom will be complete! We will then be dependent on the Mexicans for our sustenance, instead of the other way around!

  • Actually speaking, I'm pretty sure I've been near or below the official poverty line most of my adult life and I've never required a cent from the "State" and I've never begged, yet, for sustenance and I've been doing just fine. When I was growing up $47,000 a year wasn't anywhere near poverty. People in this country have no idea what real poverty is. I do know that we have a poverty or charity, faith, and hope and that's probably a good place to start looking for the answers that gubmint can't answer for itself. First, you need to believe that there are actually answers outside of gubmint to even come to that conclusion.

  • Komrades is feature not bug of dear leader Obama's plan for socialist Utopia.

It's going to be a glorious future komrades, GLORIOUS!!!!

    • Honestly, PD, it is never enough. The economy will collapse under the debt and wealth confiscation required to support this welfare leviathan. Twenty-one-percent of the federal budget goes to Medicare Medicaid, and CHIP. Over 40% of the budget goes to all social programs. There is no way out of that without massive social upheaval. Classic Cloward-Piven.

  • Well there's Quagmire's fundamental transformation of America for you, more people on the dole then paying for it.
