It looks bad, they acknowledged, but it will prevent the seat from falling into the hands of Republicans.” Saying “vote for the crook” in Chicago is like saying “go climb the tree” in Yellowstone.

Illinois gets a higher grade than my beloved Alabama and while we have our issues nobody talks about the power brokers of Alabama, the dead voters, the endless string of Governors in prison...

The Machine pols felt there was a danger Chicago might drop out of first place in the national corruption ratings.
