• OK. I see a lot of layers to this story. THe woman was abused as a child, and evidently did not get the mental help she needed already when removed from her mother's home and placed in foster care. I get that. I get that probably increased her percentage chances of abusing alcohol and drugs, and gettin pregnant (like she needs to breed) and all of that. But I also see a woman described as "psychotic," defined as someone with a complete break from reality. She is able to behave herself when she chooses (time off a prison sentence for good behaviour, cleaned up for an interview for whichh she expected payment) yet supposedly can't control herself while out on the street, attacking others and putting herself in danger as well. She fakes seizures so as to be transported to the hospital. I don't think she is psychotic at all. I think she knows exactly what she is doing, and I think she is doing it to beg for help. She does well in a controlled environment (like prison) and definitley meets the criteria of being a threat to her own and others' well being. She needs indefinite confinement in a mental institution, meds for her underlying psych issues, as well as counseling to work through the disaster her life has become. NO ONE should be able to be arrested so many times, and actually convicted so many times without some changes in approach to them, since clearly law enforcement is not making a difference. It would save money to pay for inpatient mental health care to stop the repetitive arrests, transports to the hospital, court appointments, etc. SHe has mental problems, yes. But as my Dad used to say. "she's crazy like a fox." She know how to get what she wants/ And society as a whole is complicit in enabling her behaviour.

• This is one more example of liberal idiocy out of control. They say it is not fair to put people in mental institutions because it violates their right to be free? It is a wonder that this woman has not been killed on the streets. What's more amazing is she has not seriously hurt or killed some innocent person.

• WE had one in Stockton, "Marvin" was a notorious drunk, traded his social security for White Wolf vodka and ding dongs and ho-ho's. I ran an arrest count one night after dealing with him for the umpteenth time. 496 Arrests is four years, and he would get so drunk he would pass out in the street, the local ambulance company figured it out for me, 283,000 dollars in ambulance bills and guess who pays for that shit? We do. It's kinda like if Crowley was a drunk. I finally got everyone to charge him instead of just booking him in the drunk tank, he would get 30 to 60 days in jail and it was peaceful then, then one night he passed out in the street and got run over by the rear dual wheels on a bobtail truck, problem solved. This woman will end up just like that, get run over or shot or something and it will be another example of how our mental health system DOES NOT work.

• It sounds like she finally got a "full" sentence, once she went after a politician. How sick is THAT? 395 times she has harassed, annoyed and agitated normal citizens, and she goes through the revolving door. But she messes with a politician - clearly someone more special than the rest of the citizenry, and she gets carted off.

  Well, anyway. This poor woman. She is clearly mentally ill, and I do not understand why it is not politically correct to take her off the streets, put her somewhere where people can take care of her and keep her there - even if it's involuntary. HER rights end where other people rights begin, and she tramples all over them - 396 against one.

  Plus, in my opinion, it's downright inhumane to make her fend for herself out on the streets. She is obviously incapable of taking care of herself and tossing her out there, homeless and vulnerable, is just cruel. I have no doubt that she is taken advantage of in every possible way, and that is probably why she lashes out. It's disgusting to see how humans can treat other humans. Smug people, complaining about how annoying she is, driving her to another area to get her away from them, and yet we, as a society, won't do a darned thing to help her.

  • I know just how you feel Karmaa, but the burokratchiks under the rugs and under the baseboards in the gubmint won't let us do anything to help this poor person. Once we do that they lose their poster girl for blaming the conservatives for stopping increases in the funding for all those great gubmint gravy programs that were initially designed to take care of people like her and have turned into nothing more than street theater for the low info voter.

    • Sorry for my rants - this is just one of the things that bothers me tremendously. As a hardcore (fiscal) conservative, I cry real tears for people like this. I volunteer to help girls who are 20 or 25 years away from becoming this woman. It tears me up to see how terribly our government abuses the money that we give them, supposedly to help people like this. Not a thing gets done, but they keep finding ways to make it even more attractive for people to keep popping out the unwanted babies.

      And really who can blame the moms? They have NO skills. NO way to provide an income because our government-run schools have also failed them. So one thing they CAN do is spit out babies. That is their pay check. And most of them start too young to understand how resentful one can get when they have a little screaming snot and poop machine hanging around.

• She just needs someone to give her a hand up, but then again, having run into to people very much like her I think she needs to continue her downward spiral until she hits true rock bottom. When that happens, she'll be better disposed to listen to the people that are really trying to help her.

  • She is past the point of getting a hand up. This is a broken human being. Maybe, with an awful lot of care and help, she could get to the point that she could survive without losing control. But it's doubtful. She is a sad statistic. A product of a broken social system, where girls are paid to have unwanted babies, and those babies are seen as nothing more than props to get the paycheck. Anything is fair treatment of these kids, sexual, physical and emotional abuse, so long as they are not killed.

    In fact, with any luck at all, they will get hurt bad enough to get brain damage, thus INCREASING the amount of assistance the mom (or custodial family member) gets. I am not joking.

    This is a true case: In PA, a custodial aunt got about $130,000 a year to take care of a cerebral palsy child. The mother lived with the aunt and her child. The child got CP in the first place because the mother left a plastic bag in the baby's crib. Twice. The first "accident" didn't quite do the trick. The second time the plastic bag cut off the baby's air supply long enough to cause brain damage and CP. So social services took the baby away from mom and gave her to the aunt - increasing the welfare payments by about 3 times what the mom would get. This aunt had two such children in her custody. She was "making" about $250,000 a year just for those 2 kids, and the moms were living right there. It's a goddamn cottage industry. So long as the kids show up occasionally to the doctor and get shipped off to school (where they have full-time individual teacher assistants, and meals paid for) no one cares about them. I happen to know about this case, because the little girl died. The Aunt who was getting $130 grand a year for her, and the mom who "almost" killed her twice, decided it was too much trouble to get her off to school, and then they decided to stop feeding her. By the time she died at age 15, she weighed 43 lbs, and had bedsores and maggots all over her poor tiny body.

    For what it's worth - I cursed in that last paragraph. That's how angry this makes me! Those who know me know I rarely ever curse. I blame society for this. Yes, there is blame to go around all over the place, but it starts with our sick society. We interfere until people have no responsibility, we allow any immoral or unethical behavior so long as the participants fill in the right boxes, and we just accept atrocities of parents pimping out or destroying their babies, with a tsk tsk... move on.
