This clip epitomizes Chris Matthews’ problem as a TV host. He’s so far to the left that he can’t comprehend why Charlie Rangel is in trouble. Matthews is somehow able to convince himself that the corrupt congressman’s long list of fraudulent misdeeds couldn’t possibly have been the real reason he had to step down as Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.
As Matthews spins liberal paranoia, he’s brought back to reality by Joe Conanson of the New York Observer:
Matthews: What is it that has led, for example, to the New York Times…I’m always skeptical of motive. Excuse me for that. I don’t think all journalism’s objective. Why have they been pounding this guy? Is it because of what he did or did he vote wrong on something?
Conanson: Well, Chris, I think it was journalism.
“Hmmmm, journalism,” Matthews thought to himself. “I’ve heard people use that word, but I’m not really sure what it is.”

MSNBC’s Hardball is slowing down – as 2009 is coming to a close, the program is seeing some of its worst ratings of the year.
First reason Chris is in last place. I think he would do better in a format where would be his own guest, so he could ask and answer every question. This is the first of his two annoying traits. He was talking to lady last week and he would not this woman complete a sentence before he interrupted her.
Finally she finally told him that if he wanted to be his own guest, to go ahead.
Secondly, if Chris could stop spitting when he pronouces certain words, it would eliminate the crowd laughter. Its similar to Sylvester the Cat's lisp. Sylvester's lisp of course was much worse but at least the people he talked to stayed dry. I would guess being a guest on the show would be similar to being in a "Inspector Clouseu" skit from the Pink Panther movies.
Being Chris is a "Progressive", I am sure that these annoying traits are not his fault, probably just to many experimental evenings in college with a bong

Just once....I would love to be able to rip him up and down another, just like a R. Lee Ermey type DI would Gomer Pyle. Just once.
I really don't understand how Matthews keeps his job, he has had lousy rating for about a decade, & has no idea of how to conduct an interview. At some point, GE/Comcast/NBC is gonna have to look at overhauling NBCnews, including BSNBC, & start looking at what they are paying people like Matthews & other at MSNBC in relation to the returns they get on investment. I see too much advertising for General Electric on BSNBC, which does'nt make money for GE since they are taking funds from 1 division & giving it to another. It does'nt add up, & things need to change soon. They can start by clearing out the deadwood at BSNBC, & Matthews should be gone.
Liberals/Progressives have no problem endorsing losers or allowing losers to continue with their loser streak AS long as they toy the party line. It is pathetic. In the REAL world a loser is fired and replaced with a person that knows how to deliver results.

In New York City the local news is spinning the Rangel issue and the Patterson issue (Patterson Governor) as a black issue. The spin is "we are loosing all of our black leadership". Nothing is said about corruption, just that fact that two prominent career politicians - who happen to be black - have troubles and may leave office. The hidden - or not so hidden message - is black politicians are being singled out because they are black and because they support the "CO-munity"
So I guess if you are a black socialist you should be immune to ethics rules and gasp the US Criminal Code.
PS Rangel should have never even been a member of the House - he was involved in the cover up - and maybe murder- of a New York City Police officer in the 70s. Remember Cardillo
