AT&T’s DirecTV Cancels NEWSMAX in Censorship Move

AT&T’s DirecTV Cancels NEWSMAX in Censorship Move. We already have AT&T and DirectTV censored. If we used them, they’d be gone ASAP. “Censorship is to art as lynching is to justice.”
― Henry Louis Gates Jr

“This is a blatant act of political discrimination and censorship against Newsmax,” Christopher Ruddy, CEO of Newsmax said.

“The most extreme liberal channels, even with tiny ratings, get fees from AT&T’s DirecTV, but Newsmax and OAN need to be deplatformed,” Ruddy added.

At midnight Tuesday, AT&T’s DirecTV cut Newsmax’s signal, immediately shutting the network off from more than 13 million customers of the satellite service, DirecTV Stream, and U-Verse.

This is the second time in the past year AT&T has moved to cancel a conservative channel, with DirecTV deplatforming OAN in April.

Explained in 60 seconds: Why your congressman isn’t holding a town hall meeting this year

Über liberal movie director Ron Howard isn’t going to be very happy with his brother Clint Howard’s new role as a liberal congressman desperately searching for reasons not to hold a town hall meeting this year.

It’s civil war in the Howard family. Über liberal movie director Ron Howard isn’t going to be very happy with his brother Clint’s new role as a liberal congressman desperately searching for reasons not to hold a town hall meeting this year.

Like all great satire, it holds a mirror up to truth.

Glenn Beck calls Rick Sanchez “the dumbest man on television”

Glenn Beck. Love him or hate him, it’s tough to disagree with him when he describes CNN anchor Rick Sanchez as “quite possibly the dumbest man on television. And that’s saying something because there are some dumb people in television.”

Glenn Beck. Love him or hate him, it’s tough to disagree with him when he describes CNN anchor Rick Sanchez as “quite possibly the dumbest man on television. And that’s saying something because there are some dumb people in television.”

Here’s Beck hilariously riffing on some of Sanchez’ more famous inanities.

That sound you hear is the thumping Democrats are going to get in November

This commercial – aimed at independents – directly confronts the Democrat claim that Republicans are extremists.

In a year when everything is going their way, the Republicans seem to be helping themselves out by putting out much better commercials than they have in the past. Maybe they hired a new ad agency.

Anti-Palin group makes the worst commercial in the history of television

Picture the pitch meeting. The ad agency account executive stands up and says, “Everyone knows that Sarah Palin got a lot of attention by producing a commercial about mama grizzlies. What you need to do is leverage the success of that commercial by showing that a lot of mama grizzlies oppose Palin.

What you need to do is leverage the success of that commercial by showing that a lot of mama grizzlies oppose Palin. And how do we do that? By having Palin’s opponents deliver their messages while dressed up as grizzlie bears. It’s genius. Genius, I tell you.”

Now at this point, the client should have said, “That’s the worst idea I’ve ever heard.”

Instead, SarahDoesNotSpeakForMe.com produced this remarkably awful piece of crap.

David Letterman meets Rachel Maddow, hilarity liberal lies ensue

What happens when they get together is…well…pretty much what you’d expect. Except that Letterman swears and gets bleeped while talking about Andrew Breitbart.

Chris Wallace exposes Howard Dean as a liar, Howard Dean exposes Howard Dean as a moron

One-time Presidential hopeful Howard Dean guested on FOX News Sunday and accused the network of racism for its coverage of the Shirley Sherrod and Black Panthers stories. That’s when Chris Wallace came out swinging.

President. Howard. Dean. Pardon us while we shudder at the mere thought of the combination of those three words.

One-time Presidential hopeful Howard Dean guested on FOX News Sunday and accused the network of racism for its coverage of the Shirley Sherrod and Black Panthers stories.

That’s when Chris Wallace came out swinging, pointing out that Sherrod had been fired by the White House before Fox News ever aired the woman’s name.

“Facts be damned,” Dean seemed to say, “I have a liberal meme to communicate here.”

The video is a classic.

George Soros and John Podesta are two exceptionally evil, twisted men. One supplies the money to smear conservatives, the other supplies the strategy.

CNN fires senior editor who tweeted her immense respect for Hezbollah honcho

Turns out you can’t tweet about your respect for a Hezbollah honocho even at left wing cable networks. Well, not at CNN at least. The same tweet would probably get you a promotion at MSNBC.

Think of it as “Malayasia’s Next Top Imam”

Imam Muda (Young Leader), a new reality show in Malaysia, pits 10 young men against each other who each want to become the next top imam.

A few years ago, IHateTheMedia.com’s Editor and the Mrs. were in Australia. One night we watched an Aussie TV show called Dancing With the Stars. The editor laughed hysterically and said, “This is the worst show in the history of television. Can you imagine something like that succeeding in America?”

Oops.

Never one to let experience cloud his judgment, the Editor now wants to make that statement again. This time the inspiration is a new TV show in Malaysia that is, in effect, Malaysia’s Next Top Imam.

Time has the details:

Imam Muda (Young Leader), a new reality show in Malaysia, pits 10 young men against each other who each want to become the next top imam. (via AP)

The show started out with 1,000 contestants who were asked to recite prayers and quizzed on current affairs. Background checks were also performed to weed out contestants with shady pasts. Now only ten imams remain.

Why do the show?

“We want to prove that our young Muslim Malaysians can keep up with the times,” Izelan Basar, the show’s creator, told the Associated Press. “We chose the brightest, most devout men for this program — young men whom our female viewers now want for their husbands or sons-in-law.” (Women are not allowed to audition for the show).

Producers also say that Imam Muda is the most-watched program on its channel; their Facebook fan page already boasts over 31,000 fans.

The winner gets an all expense paid trip to Mecca, a car, a job as a prayer leader, a scholarship to study in Saudia Arabia, $6400 and a laptop. Now that’s a pretty sweet deal.

What? No dynamite vest?

Our latest prediction? If they came up with a show called Dancing With the Imams, now that would be a surefire huge hit here.

CNN president destroys his own credibility by defending Eliot Spitzer’s

CNN President Jon Klein just hired disgraced former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer to do a prime-time show and now has to go out and publicly defend that boneheaded decision.

Be grateful that you’re not CNN President Jon Klein. His network has horrible ratings, his biggest star is a thousand years old, and his product is boooooring.

On top of that, he just hired disgraced former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer to do a prime-time show and now has to go out and publicly defend that boneheaded decision.

According to Klein, Spitzer has reformed himself. But as Howard Kurtz points out, CNN, which prides itself on its journalistic integrity…

(We’ll pause now while you chortle)

…has once again hired a host with zip, zero, nada journalistic experience.

Klein once disparaged bloggers as people who do their work in their pajamas in their living rooms, but seems to forget that Spitzer did his most notable work in the bedroom in his socks.

Oprah loses 25% of her viewers. How’s that Obama endorsement working out?

Oprah is not going to go out on top. Last week was the lowest rated in the 24-year history of her show according to Nielsen.

oprah show ratings
Oprah made $300,000,000 last year. She can afford to lose a few viewers.

These are truly good days for conservative TV viewers. The other day we had the story that the network TV newscasts shed 1,000,000 viewers in the last year. Now it looks like Oprah’s Obama endorsement has come back to bite her ample butt.

The New York Post has the story of O’s devastating loss:

Oprah is not going to go out on top.

Last week was the lowest rated in the 24-year history of her show according to Nielsen.

“The Oprah Winfrey Show” has been in reruns for several weeks but compared to the same week last year — which was all reruns, too — the ratings were down an eye-watering 23 percent, according to tvbythenumbers.com, a ratings Web site.

The audience for Oprah was just over 4 million viewers — the lowest it has ever been since the show first went on the air in 1986.

Quick. Someone do a side-by-side comparision of Orpah’s TV ratings and Obama’s approval ratings. We’d guess the precipitous declines looks pretty similar.

It’s George Bush’s fault. We’re not sure how, but everything is George Bush’s fault.

Alert the death panel: Network newscasts lose another 1,000,000 viewers per night

Next time you hear one of the TV networks brag that they have “the number one rated newscast in America”, please be aware that it’s like saying you’re the fattest girl at the bulimics’ convention.

MediaBistro.com has the disastrous details:

Even as the oil continues to gush from the sea floor, and the networks shuttle their anchors to points along the Gulf coast, NBC Nightly News, ABC World News and the CBS Evening News continue to lose viewers. All three broadcasts were down in Q2 2010 compared to the same period last year.

In numbers released today, NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams lost -440,000 viewers (-140k in A25-54 demo) compared to Q2 2009. ABC’s World News with Diane Sawyer lost -260,000 viewers (-80k demo) (Charlie Gibson was anchor in 2009). The CBS Evening News with Katie Couric lost the most, based on a percentage, losing -340,000 viewers (30k demo) compared to Q2 2009. ABC and CBS were also down when Q2 2008 is compared to Q2 2009.

And yet Fox News ratings just keep going up. Hmmmm. How can it be explained?

More trouble for Al Gore: Now his TV network needs massaging

Poor Al Gore. Current TV was supposed to be the vehicle he used to conquer the media. That vehicle has sputtered, stalled, and is now sitting on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck.

Al Gore gives Current TV's financial condition a big thumbs down

Poor Al Gore. Current TV was supposed to be the vehicle he used to conquer the media. That vehicle has sputtered, stalled, and is now sitting on the side of the road waiting for a tow truck.

The Hollywood Reporter has the tragic television tale:

For much of the past year, Current TV has been quietly undergoing an overhaul that will change just about everything but the struggling channel’s name. Current declined comment for this story.

It’s a revitalization project Gore & Co. embarked on after exhausting a more lucrative possibility: selling the channel. Current’s founding partner, Joel Hyatt, spent much of 2009 shopping the network with a price tag that wildly overestimated the company’s worth, confirmed sources at several conglomerates. Current even had extensive sale talks as far back as 2007 with Google, where Gore serves as a senior advisor.

Now the focus has shifted to fixing Current, perhaps with an eye toward a sale down the road. Last July, Hyatt was replaced as CEO by Mark Rosenthal, the former MTV Networks COO who is rebuilding the channel in the traditional mold Gore avowed to avoid, only to suffer the consequences.

For all the brilliance he has displayed grasping the meteorological dynamics governing the globe, Gore has miscalculated those of a slightly less complex world: the TV business. The radical ambitions he brought to the environment didn’t pan out the same way in cable; the television will not be revolutionized.

Not a good year for the man who was once the next president of the United States. Global warming has been exposed as a fraud. His wife dumped him. His massage therapist spilled the beans on him. And now his cable TV operation has disappointed him.

On the other hand, that’s made it a pretty good year for us.
