• Perhaps more funding for larger speed limit signs.

  AMTRAK loses $80M per year on food concessions. Think about the incompetence of that; with a captive audience they can't find a way to at least break even. Of course, where is the incentive to do that?

  • In Caesars Palace, Gordon Ramsey charges $22 for a burger. In the food court next to his restaurant, Smash Burger charges $9.
    AMTRAK loses $8 on a $20 burger.
    What's wrong here?

  • They're like the post office. They lose money on every transaction but make it up in volume.

• Wasn't there something like that back in 09? Didn't quagmire and plugs call them shovel ready jobs? It's now 15 and still no shovel ready jobs. 93 million Americans not working. This would've been one of those shovel ready jobs. So the train wreck is all quagmire's fault.

• We hear the same thing every time a train has a derailment and hazardous materials are spilled. Shouldn't the gooberment spend more on infrastructure?

  I guess these clowns don't know that, other than Amtrak, railroads are not subsidized by the government, they are private enterprises. Isn't it up to BNSF, Burlington Northern, Southwest, all the rail lines, to take care of their own infrastructure? Maybe the fools in the lame stream media should be asking Warren Buffett, who owns a majority interest in every rail line in the nation, why his companies are not keeping their railroads maintained.

  • If we didn't pay the sixty bucks per rider in subsidy, AmTrak would most likely be running on track like this, if at all.

• I posted a story on another thread that shows how many MILLIONS Amtrack has lost.....Again I say let it die. Defund it and stop paying sixty bucks a ticket in taxpayer subsidies....That is right my friends, every time some doofus takes amtrack, you and I pay sixty bucks to subsidize their ticket. Kill it now before it sucks in any more money.

  • Yes, well that technique worked with the hurricane Katrina, Matthew Sheppard and Vallery Plame affaires, didn't it? Turns out the reporting doesn't have to true at all as long as you shout and wave your hands about at least some of the fecal matter will stick. Expect a lot more as the election season gets going.
