They ignore the oppression because they do not consider it oppression.
According to CNN, it's nothing more than gov't doing what it's supposed to do.
They're not some idealistic morons in college. You can understand kids being smitten with Marxism. There is simply no way anyone can possibly think that CNN, Hollywood, and DC do not know exactly what is going on in Cuba. They know, and they are okay with that.

Perhaps we could load a couple jumbo jets with congress critters and have them circle over Cuba while the appreciative and industrious Cubans build a runway for it to land on.

I'm sure you're right, our State Dept. would want it to look like we were the reason things were so bad there, so Barky can be the hero, with his decision to "normalize" relations with them. Plus, we all know how wonderful things are there with their healthcare system, that Barky modeled our system after.
