Congratulations, Voters. You Just Made This Climate Denier the Most Powerful Senator on the Environment.

Congratulations, Voters. You Just Made This Climate Denier the Most Powerful Senator on the Environment. Chicken Little is happy today, she can quit yelling “the globe is warming” for awhile.

  • For most of my life, that is, while I've been paying attention to this sort of stuff (which, being a bit of a science nerd, has been several decades), the warm period around 1200 AD has been called the "Medieval Optimum".

Note that it was NOT called the "Medieval Global Warming Disaster", nor the "Medieval Climate Change Catastrophe".

It was pretty much accepted that for various unknown reasons, weather got warm, and weather got cool. And warm was better. More crops in more places, more food - life is good.

It was only in the current, more politically correct times, when normal variations in climate became a political football that the name was changed (I wonder why? (sarcasm)), to the Medieval Warm Era, or something like that. That is, if its existence was acknowledged at all, which most times, it wasn't - it was simply erased from history.

Considering the track record of these people, when they make dire predictions of impending doom, the safest bet is that things will get better. It's gotten to the point that you don't need science, experimentation, or research. These guys are so wrong so often, that you can be certain that whatever they predict, the opposite will be the actual truth.

    • To your point, vineyards were very common in England during the MO but when the Little Ice Age took hold, the vineyards failed and the early Brits switched to making beer because the grains were hearty enough to withstand the colder climate.

      • What? Global chillin'? Oh, and it's called Greenland for a reason. And there were vineyards there too thanks to the Vikings. Thanks Eric...

      • Thanks for the link.

I especially like the "Climatic Anomaly" term. This is 1984 newspeak at its finest. So a couple of hundred years of warmth was just an "anomaly". Nothing natural here folks, move along. This is just an outlier. Only humans can cause changes in climate.

I suppose that a hundred million years of heat that the dinosaurs enjoyed was also an "anomaly"?

Holy heatwave, Batman - reading on in that article, I see these guys are going to unprecedented lengths to deny that there were any changes ever in global temps. I guess once they issued the "hockey stick" graph, they're stuck either admitting they lied, or warping reality to support their lies. Obviously, they are choosing the latter. And they're calling US "deniers"?

  • Now can they fine someone to call out the UN for what they are, a money sucking bureaucrats seeking to destroy the sovereignty of western democratic nations and establish a single world government. OR at least cut back the US funding so as to neuter them.

  • Well done, America - one more step towards overturning this cancerous idiocy which has been pervading the USA (and the Former UK, and most of Europe, too).

There IS an antidote to The Age of Stupid - YOU!

  • I hope The Goracle reads the story and does himself in by allowing a couple polar bears to eat his fat carcass.

  • It always warms my heart when Lefties try to smear conservatives but only wind up promoting them.
