Congressman wants to require military chaplains for atheists

• Good grief. This jackass is my congressman. The morons in NJ keep electing this dumbass over and over again.

• I think everybody misses the 800lb gorilla in all this. If atheists are allowed to have chaplains they will become a legally accepted religion (personally I've always thought they were anyway). Then they will be endorsing their version of religion over all others. This will then create a situation of they will have no rights to demand such things as the removal of 10 commandment plaques or praying at graduation, etc. because they will be forcing their doctrine on everyone instead. Anyone can sue them and this will make the ACLU's head explode not that I would be opposed to that.
  This is a huge can of worms.

• Can I claim a 503c exemption for being a Atheist? Sure sounds like it.

  • Oh yeah, that one will be ram-rodded through in five minutes. Lois Lerner will sign it personally.

• Could a "chaplain" for the Wiccians perform double duty?

• You know there is a service to provide counseling for atheists. It is eminently secular humanist and it won't deconstruct the chaplain corp. It is called the Medical Branch and it has lots of mental health counselors. But we all know that this is part of a broader campaign to turn the military into a civil service left wing organization pretty much like a public sector union.

• Atheist Chaplain to soldier: "After you die for your country, you'll be worm food and your sacrifice was essentially meaningless."

  Seriously even an atheist would not necessarily be very encouraged by that. Think about this atheist chaplain... atheist chaplain... Saying it alone just causes confusion and wonder.

  I mean seriously come on!!! This is not normal.

  • The worst part is you don't necessarily get your own denomination in the military. The big bases have all kinds, but smaller bases and frontline areas are lucky if they have even one chaplain. So imagine the poor soldier lying in the dust of Afghanistan, mortally wounded and wanting to pray, who has the bad luck of getting an atheist chaplain.

      Overall I am not hating on atheists, just hating on this concept that makes absolutely no sense.

• Why have a Chaplin for atheist? Is this not a complete waste of money? Atheist believe there is no God and Chaplin's believe that there is a God almighty.

  • If you consider the religion of 'Secular Humanism,' they have a god, albeit, not a god you or I would want to worship, but they have a god and I suppose they'd need chaplains...somebody has to collect the blood.

• This is dumber than Hank Johnson and McDermott combined, why would they need a chaplain? They don't worship so just what do they need guidance for? And looking at the guys photo, I willing to bet he ends up on a Megan's Law website soon. Plus the fact he is from New Jersey makes him worthless and corrupt right off the bat.
