Hate to break it to the everythingisracism crowd, but I was sent home having a 104deg fever. The Navy just handed me some Motrin and a chit allowing me to not go to work for 2 days. Good to know our medical system has been brought down to military medical standards.
That is what Ias think i ng, Stri n a. I worked Emergency (unlike someone we know and love who CLAIMS to have worked emergency.) Getting sent home with a fever is not unusual. He was sent home with antibiotics, and likely told to return if not better in 48 hours. That is thecappropriatecstanard of carecwhen a bacterial infection is suspected. They probably did alot of cultures and stuff as well, but those take a couple of days to come back. The key they missed wss "I am visiting from Liberia." And legitimately, hospital personnel may not have been. Aware of whatvwas going on half a world away. I feel sorry for them, . And all the Patients in the ER on the 2 occasions he was there. Oh, andcsince this is a private hospital, not the local County facility, he likely had some kindof insurance, or cash for treatment.
If he was a veteran the VA would have seen him about 6 months after he died.
I'm currently sitting through the VA part of the retirement brief. This whole week of briefs have been painful, but today has been the worst. Everyone sees the elephant in the room, but it's not an appropriate forum to bring it up. Though we have joked about it from time to time.
Whatever you do, make sure before you retire, you make copies of ALL your medical records. Also, if you have ANY injuries, make sure they are annotated and you file a disability claim for them. At least that way, you have a claim on record, and if anything happens that you have problems in the future, you have a claim to refer to, and you will be eligible for back benefits to when you filed your original claim.
103 degree fever and fluids ooooozing out of every orifice...."here's two Tylenol, call us back after you get signed up for Obamacare, Food stamps, and welfare...
