          The Spanish nurse is stupid and THIS healthcare worker is ALSO stupid. The Spanish nurse had 15 years experience. If she was assigned is because she had appropriate training. I can understand that there are stupid people and I understand that people get tired, but unless she was truly careless with her life, she did all that she could to make sure she didn't get it. She being blamed is disgusting. She stated she was completely covered and then out of a sudden there are no direct quotes from her and all we get are "officials" speaking for her.

          I heard there are (at least) five strands of Ebola and we don't know which strand is which in which case. It is very possible there is a strand (at least) that is not as picky as to how to go from person to person... and we are not being told of it.

          I am willing to believe that the health care workers are all stupid... fine... but especially in the cases of great experience, I am much more willing to believe that there is something that we are not being told.

            Now, given that we are dealing with a strain never seen before, how could that moron at the CDC be so confident about how it is spread and the safety of treating it? If you read the link, when they traced the disease to its origin, the first case was in a two-year-old and the second case was a healthcare worker. So this thing has made a practice of infecting healthcare workers from the start.

  • How can this be? The director of the CDC Dr.Frieden has been telling anyone who will listen, "all is well, there is nothing to worry about". Hey doc, it looks as if there is plenty to worry about. A healthcare worker took all the precautions for a communicable disease, and still contracted Ebola. Now there are more people in Dallas who have been exposed.

    Dr Frieden, when are you and quagmire going to do what needs to be done? Deny anyone coming from the three countries that have Ebola ravaging those nations.

    Stop spinning the lies, tell the truth and protect the health of those in this country. We know your boss has no damn desire to protect us from anything, yet you took the Hippocratic Oath. Just in case you have forgotten what it says. Here you go.

    • If you read the linked article, Frieden is blaming the sick woman, saying the diagnosis shows there was a clear breach of safety protocol. In other words, it's her own fault, she was too stupid to follow his protocol. I can't begin to express, no matter how many words I use, how much I despise that man. Thomas Frieden is the epitome of the pretend scientist who has sold his soul for the chance to grasp at bureaucratic advancement.

      • Yes, a "breach of protocol." Sure too bad people aren't perfect, huh? I mean I'm sure that's true anyway, but yes, you have to realize accidents happen resulting in things like this. And BTW, they did: "We have been preparing for an event like this,” Lakey said.

  • Simple fairness says the proper person to care for this woman is Thomas Frieden, head of the CDC. He's earned the privilege, since his dumb reassurances and dumb advice caused this to happen. And if he won't go in the house voluntarily, send him in at the point of a gun.
