Days of Promise Fade for Ethanol. Days of promise seem to be fading for EV’s, solar and wind, too. Few seem to be able to survive even with massive government subsidies. The government isn’t very good at picking winners, only losers.

Not to mention how much fresh water is wasted in the production process...

Another $$ Billion (or two) wasted. Bush did veto the bill but was overridden by a Congressional override. Interesting article from the Oxfam web site.....more unintended consequences...but who cares as long as the tax payer money is fed to the wolves...

Wasting fermented sugars - whatever the source - for fuel when the natural course is to store it in charred oak barrels for years, then sip the wondrous resulting concentrate is shameful.

As a fuel, it provides less power.
It's a pain to transport. It must be trucked since it cannot go into pipelines.
It costs more to produce.
It damages your engines.
It is driving up food prices. Whatever food eats cornfeed, costs more. Beef, pork, chicken, & various related products like milk, cheese, & eggs are all more expensive in part to ethanol mandates.
...but other then that, it kicks ass.

The way this Times article described the local economic effects that an industry like this can have is quite edifying, and should be basic educational fodder for economics students. However, the down side here, that should also be drilled into the heads of our future economists, is that this ethanol thing was governmentally shoved down our throat and that kind of market manipulating is always short-lived. The market didn't really want ethanol, but anti-oil, elitist liberals did, so... that's what we got, and eventually the market reigns, no matter how hard the fed tries to produce a demand for their precious biofuels.

That's just creepy, and IMO, this program could turn on them in an ugly way. They might very well produce some super intelligent humans, but who knows what other dark qualities might also come from this. Intelligence itself is not an end. These super-brains could.. WILL become evil monsters.
I was kinda hoping they might be breeding their own usurpers. But no doubt, potential rivals for The West, regardless
