Did Obama tell a Democratic audience that a “fully automatic weapon” was used at Newtown? According to the transcript, he suggested as much: “…make sure that we don’t have another 20 children in a classroom gunned down by a semiautomatic weapon — by a fully automatic weapon in that case, sadly.” If Obama had a son, he’d look just like Pinocchio.

The ACLU and the NRA are rarely seen on the same side of a legislative argument. Both organizations, however, are opposed to the "universal background check" currently working its way through the U.S. Senate. And both organizations are against it for the same reasons: it empowers the federal government to collect information for which it has no legitimate need, and its collection of that information constitutes a grave threat to Americans' liberty and security.
Not to mention that the establishment of a private firearms database is currently prohibited under 18 U.S.C. § 926, which was part of the 1986 Firearms Owner Protection Act. And such a database would be established using the data collected via "universal background checks." Or that the only purpose of such a database would be to confiscate privately owned firearms, regardless of whatever rationale may be cited in its support.
I urge you in the strongest possible terms to oppose "universal background checks" and any similar anti-gun legislation that is proposed in the Senate.

Another curious omission from the Communicator-in-Chief - he mentions the legitimate use of firearms by "hunters and sportsmen", but says nothing about self-defense. Apparently he and his Progressive pals are okay with armed guards protecting them and their families, but anyone protecting their own family is a psychopath.
