Doctor posts newspaper notice: closing due to Obamacare

Doctor posts newspaper notice: closing due to Obamacare. If you like your doctor, you can watch him close his practice.

Bonfire of the Absurdities: After 35 year career writing software for IBM mainframes, am now self-employed contractor thinking of joining a union and striking for higher wages. Cured morbid fear of heights when I learned to look at them as lengths standing on end. Uncompromising in refusal to accept browser cookies. Amateur investor who has accumulated a small fortune in the market after starting out years ago with a large one. For recreation, I run, hike, kayak and play tennis but will not consider synchronized swimming under any circumstances.

  • You guys should see how the Kos spins this:

Tue Dec 10, 2013 at 12:08 PM PST.
"Computer illiterate doctor quits because of Obamacare, becomes hero to right"

    http://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/12/10/1261702/-Computer-illiterate-Kentucky-doctor-quits-because-of-Obamacare-becomes-hero-to-right#

I don't think a single one of my "-ologists" is a computer geek, but they're all good docs.

Dr. Kiteck has a 4/5 star rating from 8 patients, plus he takes/took insurance:
    What insurance does he accept?
    •Aetna
    •Anthem
    •Blue Cross and Blue Shield
    •CIGNA
    •Coventry Health Care
    •Humana
    •MultiPlan
    •UnitedHealthCare

So...as opposed to what the Kos says, it seems he has no problem getting insurance company reimbursements. Gotta love their spin....

    • The bottom line is with only a few years left in hs practive, the financial burden of converting to computerized records, etc would be prohibitive. The man(or more likely woman) hours needed to convert his records to EHRs at this point would be exceesively expensive and time consuming. My daughter works for an eye doctor and they are in the process of converting. It is taking months to complete and is impacting more current activities being done in a timely manner.

      • The problem with this article in the Peoples Cube is that it sounds like something Carney Barker would actually say!

“The private sector is always languishing behind the government,” said Jay Carney in a White House press release earlier today, “especially in terms of technology and efficiency. It is hoped that by our showing the world that success is achievable, others would be inspired to do as well."

        • Scary, ain't it. I also liked the article where Obama was ignorant because those dastardly Republicans had placed him in a eeeevil mime bubble. Didn't mention the alternative -- he's just an ignorant SOB.

    • Where can we go - Belize? If too many of us go there we might sink the
island (remember the Guam story?). Maybe it's time to have a pot and pan revolution such as Iceland had.

      • Maybe it’s time to have a pot and pan revolution such as Iceland had.

I truly hope that, when the time comes, pots and pans will be ALL that is required, however, I fear not.

          • Disappointed no one appreciated my Riddick drop..

A despair-ridden commute awaits me. The teacup of IHTM validation I seek remains unfilled! But fuck yeah FRIDAY!! Been a helluva week

          • just saw it and lol'ed...he musta known my G'Ma too ;)

prolly has Ghosty hiding behind a couch somewhere...maybe ooddz is with him

          • For the life of me (what little is left) I cannot understand how you remain so accurate with your eyes all squinted during the follow through. The arm and shoulder mechanics are all screwy but the cup still finds it's mark. And you'll notice I didn't say, "throws like a girl."

          • Here in Texas, the chancla (flip flops or sandals) are the weapons of choice and the Moms and Grandmom's have unerring accuracy.

          • Hell rose, that ain't nothing.
My ol' Missouri g' ma had special lifts built into her right shoe.
This was in the late "60's early "70's...so you know how heavy those were.
I swear, she could make a bank shot around the corner that would make Minnesota fat's hang his head in shame.

When she died, I think "the shoe" was buried in a separate casket ....just in case.....

        • Actually, money is the real weapon. Start starving leftists of their income. You want to change thing, don't support any business that supports progressives. Hard to that all the time, but money is the weapon that works.

  • The democrat party solution to a doctor shortage will be to unionize healthcare workers. It won't fix the problem, but it will get scads of union money into the party's coffers.

  • FTA:
"Kiteck said his ad likely opened up a Pandora’s Box. But the truth is, the box had already been opened when Obamacare was signed into law, and the frightening effects are only beginning to fly out."
Not entirely correct... the law SHOULD have opened up the proverbial can of worms but leave it to a criminally complicit press to help suppress the details leaving us to wait until the law begins to get implemented and its effects to begin reaching its victims before Pandora's Box opens. This is likely by design- the idea being that by the time it starts being felt it will be too late to do anything about it. O-care is the biggest, most malicious piece of legislation to come down the pike in a long time- if not ever. Instead of bickering about its details and railing about pointless things like the roll out of its website we should be be demanding its repeal en masse and those who used every parliamentary trick in the book to ram it through- itself a tell of how toxic they KNEW it to be- should be held criminally liable.

  • I am so glad I got my cancer problem over with. My cardiologist group has sold out to the local hospital that did my surgery because they can see the bullshit on the wall.

I can only imagine the nightmare I would have gone through after the first of January.

So far I'm around $200k for all of this. You can about bet Obamacare would have said no effing way, you're 59, so croak so we don't have to spend money.

  • Just wait for it.....

A dim wit will propose a law that prevents doctors from stop practicing medicine, closing their offices and going out of business. They passed a POS of legislation and now they won't admit it. But sure as hell want to make all of us suffer for it.

Another lie, can't keep your doctor if the doctor stops practicing medicine.

    • These people are hardcore fascists so the name of the law will be the exact opposite as to what it demands. I've put this out before. It will be called something along the lines of "The Doctor Freedom and Fairness act." In reality it will be the "Doctor Slavery Act."

    • It would be interesting to see if they try to prevent doctors from quitting by passing a law making it illegal for them to do so. At that point, doctors are more or less, slaves to the system.

      • If that happens, I strongly suspect that there will be a good many doctors coming down with some incurable, contagious disease, making their practicing medicine impossible. ;-)

      • That is what is going to happen. The answer of governmental screwups is MORE governmental regulations...

    • I've said it before, but it bears repeating -- it's like they're working right out of Atlas Shrugged. Miracle Medicine for all!

  • Oh, this is just a tiny tip of the iceberg, I have heard of dozens, if not hundreds of comments from physicians discussing early retirement or going to a cash practice.

And this will be the real killer for obummer care - millions of people will gain "coverage" for health care, but the upcoming shortage of providers will mean that the waiting time for care will be incredible.
    Wait and see....

    • The crafters opf Obamacare have known about all these repercussions all along. They have made it clear the ultimate plan is a single payer, with the Government "overseeing" everything and everyone.
