  • Kalifornia has had "assault" rifle registration for maybe 10 years. It's just that virtually nobody paid any attention to it. They probably figured that nobody would pay any attention to this one either. Good luck arresting 10 million gun owners.

  • I have a question... I know it kind of helps law enforcement, but is registration Constitutional?

    • Depends on who's on SCOTUS. We need another conservative to replace the crone and then I'd say it's as least unconstitutional as outlawing any gay sexual preference.

      • I find that I can't find a true Constitutional reason for registration. AGAIN I understand that it may help law enforcement, but let's be real... guns can be stolen or taken without the owner's knowledge, they can be unmarked, wiped clean, etc... Knowing that the gun was bought and registered by Gal #1 means NOTHING if Guy #1 stole it and sold it to Guy #2 for drugs and Gal #2 "borrowed it" in order to settle a score with Guy #3. Sure we know Gal #1 has a gun, but so what?

        • I doubt that registering "assault weapons" would help law enforcement at all, since "assault weapons" are so rarely used in crime.

    • I believe registration is un Constitutional and I don't believe that the framers even thought of such a thing. Because it doesn't make sense if we take registration to all possible conclusions, it does nothing other than to alert the government that one has a gun and got the gun through "legitimate" channels... that is it.

      The Government demanding that you alert them that you have something is un Constitutional. They have to go through hoops to get into your home or business or property or your own self to search for something they want to prove something. You don't have to make things easy for the Government. We have seen that people with mental issues, people with poor discipline, etc. can get guns no matter where, how or when. Gun registration is utterly useless and it MAY help law enforcement but it only helps as to know that a person bought the gun and the person that bought the gun is not necessarily the person that used it for the crime being investigated.
