It's about time! These laws went too far. In a domestic, if the cops come out somebody MUST go to jail. That's ridiculous. A phone call became a weapon to put a person in the slammer without probable cause or due process. Now its game-on, let the donnybrook begin!

As usual, Hoops is wrong. There is no requirement that somebody go to jail because a call is made. In many states, if there is a visible mark on somebody, then somebody goes. Not all states even have that requirement yet. So go back to the drawing board, Hoops. You lost that one.

Rock. Right you are. Without substantial evidence that somebody got smacked, no one goes to jail. If so, could even be her if she is the smacker, could be both if they traded blows. Reason for the law is, usually the woman calls the police (often repeatedly) and then refuses to press charges because she either is afraid she will get the shit beat out of her later or she simply doesnt want the asshole to go to jail. Whatever the case, they always kiss er I mean screw and make up within a few hours of the smacker getting out of jail and then the process repeats itself.
Yes, in many cases it IS the woman that goes to jail. A very close friend of mine was living with a woman that, while physically beautiful, was very ugly on the inside. Whenever she got drunk, she got violent. Knowing that he was too much a gentleman to hit back, or even really defend himself in any substantial way, she went after him. Repeatedly. Knowing he had one really bad knee, and one titanium knee, she took a fireplace poker and started beating his knees with it one time. He managed to run away out into the desert and call me on his cellphone to come and get him and take him home.
I agreed on one condition. We go get your stuff tomorrow and you never see her again. So she came to MY house, walked in uninvited, and tried to beat on ME! I'm a gentleman, but not as much as my buddy. I took her down and held her for the police.
By the way, my friend is also a Navy Vet. Corpsman, Vietnam, '69 and '70. I salute him and you both.
Good for you! Take that b*tch down and let her go to prison where she belongs. If a b*tch like that comes into my home to beat me or her husband that is under my roof she is going down. I don't care it could be a man coming for a female friend, if I cannot put him down I will take my gun and shoot him. Done. The cops are called to put him in a bag and take him away. I have no patience for spouse beaters or abusers of children, especially if they want to bring their abuse into my home when the child(ren)/spouse is under my protection.
