Duke Energy warns customers to not use EV charging stations after fire involving Siemens charger and a Chevy Volt. Investigators are not certain either the charger or the car is the cause of the fire, but they’re warning folks not to use similar Siemens chargers for the time being. EVs are truly cars for the well-to-do, not only because the price is a bit steep but the well-off are the only ones who can afford to do without their cars for a couple of weeks and have the money to replace the garage that the charger may have burned down. Why dont we just keep fearing change. Blackouts now, sounds like all is working well. Smog from cars, much less than power plants? Screw alternative sources of energy. Get mad when there is a problem, viloence is the answer for thoes ill equipped with brainpower. Why can't we work together and help and accept others doing things differently. If ya all want to keeep driving v-8 polluters and lining the rich rich oil companies pockets go ahead, who am I to tell ya what to do. I myself choose the hard, challenging way, embracing change and looking for better ways for our future.
If anyone else but Government Motors had put something this dangerous out, the CPSC would be up their ass shutting them down, but since this has the Obama seal of approval nothing will be done.

I posted a while back about just how dangerous the batteries in these cars are in the event of a collision, fire, very toxic smoke and just for fun an explosion or two, Now charging the thing up becomes a high risk mission..GM should be called BM and congratulated on another fine product that no one wants and one that could kill you without even moments notice...Now if you wanna make lemonade out of this lemon, lets export them to the middle east....I couldn't think of a better place for them to go boom.

I have mentioned the grid problem before. California already has rolling blackouts in order to handle the power demands, what happens when they are all in electric cars?

I went to Saskatoon for my neice's wedding in May. From St.Paul, MN, I drove up through Fargo, ND & went northwest across North Dakota through the Bakken oil fields along the Saskatchewan-North Dakota. Seeing the oil production brought a tear to my eye. It was beautiful, & I love how the folks up there are proud of the oil industry. It fuels America's economy, whether the left likes it or not.

Given Chevy Volt's lack of fire among consumers, it has to be the charger's fault.
