Ebola nurse showdown: Maine governor sends state troopers to home of nurse threatening to break quarantine – despite residents branding her ‘selfish’

• I am not down with EXCESSIVE presence and use of the police force for this ONE lady. It is ridiculous and a waste of tax payer's money and it is a way for these people who are up for re-election to look like they are doing something and garner votes.

  WITH THAT SAID, like I have said many times, it is fantastic that she gave up her time to go and help needy people over there. She did what I would never ever do. I would never go over there even if I was a nurse. I am just being real. However, I would donate money to organizations that help and to individuals that want to go and I would encourage and pray for them and I do pray for them. I wouldn't go and all in all I don't care if you judge me. So I wouldn't go and therefore I admire and encourage those that go and I don't want anyone who is willing to go to feel that they are being punished for going and coming back here and encountering ill behavior or ill treatment etc etc....

  WITH THAT SAID I believe that an important part of their charitable work is to ALSO sacrifice an additional three weeks to a month quarantine time in order to make sure that they are in no danger to their neighbors and their families. If ANYTHING part of their charitable work is to add additional funds and time to do any and all testing that it is absolutely necessary and that will definitely clear her of any disease BEFORE she enters into society and while she is waiting for the results just keep it real and stay at home and let people bring you what you need OR prepare all that you need in your home or another area beforehand so when you come back you have a plan as to how you are coming back and where you are staying so you are of no problem to anyone.

  That is common sense, that is absolutely normal... I don't understand the problem here?

  She is just being selfish because it is HER that has to be quarantined when she was part of a team about quarantine herself. She is just another liberal idiot that doesn't want to do the right thing because it is required of her to do it, whereas if it was someone else she would agree that person should be quarantine to protect her from him or her.

  This is all because of Doctors and TV Doctors and what not that came back and where supposed to be self monitoring and self quarantining and went out gallavanting and then the one Doctor ACTUALLY had Ebola. Had all these people just kept it real, this wouldn't have escalated to the point it was today.

  I still blame the government because they should have been prepare for all these people coming back.

• Nice to see that someone with in the government is taking this nurse to task for risking all those she comes in contact with.

  Here's a plan that could be put in place. 22 days before departure those who are wishing to come here, they report to a location of seclusion and are checked out and monitored. No Ebola, you are free to go. You've got Ebola, you keep your ass there and treatment is sent there to them.

• There is a thing in the medical code in Maine that says healthcare workers that are exposed to dangerous diseases are to self isolate, maybe of she refuses, they can pull her license.

  • That's what my lady is suggesting. Personally, I'm for some jail time.

• I've always been one for people should be allowed to do what they want to do unless they harm others. It has been (scientifically mind you) noted that Ebola may not show symptoms for two weeks. She should know this, but she continues to say "this defies science" and equally stupid things. She is risking others lives by her selfishness.

  Where is Eric Holder and Al Sharpton on this shit? Is it because she isn't black?

  • AGAIN reinforcing what I stated above. You would think that someone in the medical field would be uberly cautious, clearly not in this case. We have a totally SELFISH lib, that can jet off to Africa to 'nurse' Ebola patients, with ZERO regard for her fellow citizens. DAMNIT, if our military ( BTW: the TRUE heroes in this situation ) have to be quarantined, then this asswipe should be too.

    • But you see, military members have to get haircuts every week, for the good of unit cohesion (which totally isn't why), which most of the civilian population does not. (SNARC btw).

  • That should be okay. Self-isolation for the doctor in California explicitly allows jogging alone. She probably wants to push the envelope just to incite trouble. I still wonder why the damn boyfriend is there - the doctor in Calif. sent his wife and dog away for three weeks.

• I live in Maine, 275 miles from Ft. Kent (AKA Ice Station Zebra) in the far north. Her neighbors want her to stay home, but a vocal segment of our population wants her to roam free. That segment is in southern Maine (AKA northern Massachusetts) expressing their outrage behind the safety (they hope) of 325 miles. They're the same folks who, from 5000+ miles away, tell Israel to stop oppressing the peaceful Palestinians.

• These guys seem more and more like they are arrogant, self-serving, self-important, holier-than-thou, Progressive-Liberal pricks. Just saying...
