Toyota is pulling the plug on electric car production and it’s vice chairman said, “The current capabilities of electric vehicles do not meet society’s needs, whether it may be the distance the cars run, or the costs, or how it takes a long time to charge.” The company anticipates sales of a mere 2600 units in the United States over the next three years. Hey, what was the name of that moron IHTM reader who tried to convince everyone that the future of the auto industry was electric?

Even the Japanese have given up on electric cars, but Government Motors will still continue to sell them to the idiots in this Administration. So how many billion did GM lose last quarter?

Not to worry. GM will double down on the Volt fiasco and build a Cadillac badged version. If it won't sell at $45K with a $10K-$15K tax credit, then it makes perfect business sense to build an even more expensive plug-in. Everyday I remind myself how glad I am to be a former GM employee.

May they can use the Volt batteries to power the back-up generators in NY/NJ. Should be able to get around 10 minutes (generator) run time on a Volt charge.
