Engineer who accelerated train to 106 mph going into curve was gay marriage activist. Funny, isn’t it? Every time there’s a tragedy, Democrats jump in front of microphones to blame Republicans and then it turns out the perpetrator was a leftie. Every. Doggone. Time.

  • Maybe he was really, really, REALLY impatient to get that train into a tunnel that was further down the line. The Freudian symbolism might have been just too enticing.

  • He sexual orientation doesn't mean a damn thing in this case. He was going to fast, went into a curve, derailed, & killed several people. Unless he was going through the "Grinder" app on his phone instead of paying attention to his job, him being gay is meaningless.

      As for the Grinder app. Yes, we'll wait and see on that one. Chances are actually very high.

  • The sexual orientation of the driver is not a factor. The more that comes out about his being a gay activist, the more the left will tie this mess around the neck of the gop. CNN is attacking the gop for trying to cut funding to Amtrak and insinuating that the cuts are why this happened. If they can tie an anti-gay angle to this smear campaign, they will.

    As far as him lawyering up and not making a statement, it is his right. He will lose this job and face criminal and civil penalties. He will be stocking shelves at Target after this is all over.

          • WTF does that mean and how is it relevant to your broad brushed statement that homosexuals are untrustworthy? I don't agree with a lot of the stuff the gay community pushes nor do I agree with the manner in which it is being promoted and shoved down our throats. But labeling an entire group of people as being unable to believe the truth and thus are all untrustworthy AND not capable of reading a map?

That's what it has to do with ALL homosexuals. do please try to keep up, their "orientation" is nothing less than throwing away the truth of God, and has nothing to do with being UNABLE to to believe, rather it's being adamantly UNWILLING to submit to the truth.

    • I agree MGAP. I work for RCX RAILCAR INC, here in Wyobraska, with the Burlington Northern and UP railroads; this guy's career as an engineer is over! He's in 'I've lost my job forever and I'm facing serious criminal charges' kind of trouble right now. His days of tooting his horn at every crossing and advancing his pernicious gospel of hate and evil, to every conductor that has to sit in the cab with him, are over. I say good riddance, intolerant little smegma taster! Maybe he'll learn to slow down well ahead of the curves...maybe.

      Or is it? If this turns out to have been a suicidal gesture on his part, the high suicide rate among gay men (five times higher than among heterosexual men) becomes an issue, doesn't it? I was flabbergasted by the speed of the train going into that curve, but when I read that he actually started accelerating shortly before the curve, I couldn't help wondering if he was trying to commit suicide.

        • Yes they do, all rail engines are equipped with data recorders locked in a box in the engine. BNSF inspects theirs daily and always after an "incident" occurs.

      • Maybe I should state that we need to wait and see what happened then? I'm seeing this being turned into a political issue. Throw in the gay factor and the odds that someone says something stooopid rise. You can almost guarantee that a political plant in the press will ask Ted Cruz or Rand Paul a loaded question on the subject in the days to come. That question will be taken out of context and spun as needed to hang the accident around the neck of a fund cutting anti-gay GOP presidential hopeful.

        As stated in my initial post, http://www.cnn.com/2015/05/15/politics/shuster-defends-amtrak-spending/index.html . CNN is suggesting the accident was caused by GOP funding cuts. If they can put Cruz or Paul's face on it, even better for them. Getting an ignorant anti-gay tie in will be bonus points. I EXPECT them to do this as it would be in line with every political play the left has made in the last 20 years.

          It's not ignorant. Politically incorrect, but not ignorant. The five times higher suicide rate is not make believe, so it's not ignorant to point out that maybe his suicidal train driving has something to do with whatever was making him suicidal. If he was schizophrenic we wouldn't hesitate to attribute suicidal actions to his mental disease. So why can't we speak the truth about his gayness? How did gays get to be some sort of extra-protected class, free from any kind of objective scrutiny? Somehow this country is having a gigantic debate about gay marriage without anybody being allowed to mention any of the myriad of documented problems that gays introduce into society. It's bizarre.

          • You misunderstood me again. Not calling anyone here ignorant or disputing your stats. I'm merely stating that that is how the press is "aching" to spin this (with democrat guidance of course). They WANT to portray anyone that is anti-gay as ignorant. They want to pull in a republican. They always do. Picture this scenario. Press conference with Rand Paul. "Senator, political blogger JPTravis is posting on IHTM.com that the Amtrak derailment was caused by the conductor being a gay activist. Do you care to comment on this statement and add your thoughts to the fact that GOP funding cuts might be directly to blame for this accident?" No matter how he answers, they spin it even further against him and pile on more lies. He knows they lied, they know they lied, we know they lied, but the low information voter will form an opinion based on the catcha' clip or headline, not the entire story or the facts.

            This site is being monitored, as is yours. While quoting you directly is a stretch, it could happen. They might quote "conservative bloggers across the country are suggesting that the conductor being gay caused this wreck, care to comment?" Nobody would bother to check the facts because they will be focused on the perceived stepping of Sen. Paul upon his own dick. Does it make sense now?

          • Yeah, I'm not gonna worry about whether someone thinks I'm this or that. Nor worry about whether my opinion causes a problem for some politician. I hear what you're saying about getting ahead of the facts, but when it looks like someone did something suicidal and we know he's schizophrenic, or gay, or just got caught embezzling from his church, it's not irresponsible to wonder if his mental illness or recent arrest has something to do with it.

            something i found interesting to think about - seems when it comes to these socialistic tendencies in people, they never quite turn out to be the "people types" they paint of themselves... i mean, what human would dream of taking out innocent people while trying to end their own suffering? a bleeding-heart victimized human, a full-on member of the caring club... of course.
