The Telegraph UK reports that, “The seething discontent in Germany over Europe’s debt crisis has spread to all the key institutions of the state. ‘Hysteria is sweeping Germany,’ said Klaus Regling, the EFSF’s director.” Translation: The deadbeats in Greece, Spain, Portugal and Italy are starting to worry that the hardworking, thrifty Germans don’t want to support them.

  • I recently read of an experiment in a fairly liberal University, wherein students with high GPA's were encouraged to share their GPA with student who were not so fortunate, and really needed the grades. Across the board, the same students that picketed for all kinds of government support to nearly everybody became very thrifty when it came to their grades. Most popular response? " But I worked hard for this GPA. Why should I give it to someone who partied instead of studying (or words to that effect.) Man, I wish I could find that reference!

  • Hysteria=Common Sense.

It is the Newspeak that Orwell so well warned of.

When I hear the msm put out an economic propaganda release from the 0bama regime, I can think of nothing but "Your chocolate ration has been increased from thirty grams to 25 grams per week."

  • It's the old "The Ant and the Grasshopper" story writ large. Germany didn't have a property bubble like the US and the PIIGS countries did. The reason is simply that borrowing is anathema to Germans. Apparently bailing out over-leveraged borrowers is also. Go figure.
