So I see what is happening. In Benghazi the Ambassador and others sent stuff in writing and no response, the Saudis the same and so on and so forth so that tells me that this government were all public educated in the lamest schools and hook on phonics didn't work for them. Oh jolly we have an uneducated lazy ass government whoopee we certainly should feel really good about our future right now.
In writing? This is flying under the radar but been trying to keep up with it from a distance (where's pink Floyd when you need him for local color?) This is a (IMHO) hair-splitting overview, but the case itself should be big, we'll see how it plays. Or at least should be, depends if this is still the USA I grew up with.

I'm not surprised we got this intel from the Saudis but I'm also not surprised that we didn't immediately act on it either. I spent a good twenty-two years of my life in Army Intelligence and I know from experience that the vast amount of HUMINT, COMINT, SATINT we collect on a daily basis, from every source imaginable, is not immediately actionable. This means that there isn't enough information in the collected intelligence to spend valuable resources on it when you have other hotter leads to investigate. As much as I despise Obama and his filthy posse of traitorous allies, I have to be careful about saying that the CIA, FBI or NSA dropped the intel ball and screwed everything up down the road in Boston. I'm thinking that the intel on Tamerlan Tsarnaev wasn't immediately actionable and that we had many other fires burning. It's a tragic shame that this little worm fell through the cracks, but the axiom most prevalent here is: "We have to be right 100% of the time and the terrorists only have to be right 1% of the time." Sad but true. There's enough blame to go around here, but ultimately it stops at Obama's desk and he's out playing golf right now.
I understand what you're saying, but when warnings start coming in multiples of three, and from totally different sources, about the same guy, the system should react. First warning from Russia. Probably not enough. Second and third from Russia? Maybe we should take a look at this guy. Then we hear from another country? NOW it's time to take the intelligence seriously.
JPT I feel your pain and although we may have known the guy was rotten, we may not have had any real specifics as to when and where he and his brother were going to strike. Yeah, I hear what you're saying about someone dropping the ball, but telling us that these guys are going to strike some big city in the US sometime this year is not specific enough to just put them behind bars, though I would have been comfortable with putting them in Guantanamo. It sucks, but I'm almost certain political correctness played a big part in this and if that's the case, many more Americans are going to die because of the political cowardice on display in D.C.!
No, not put him behind bars. He's an alien convicted of a crime. He should have been deported immediately. It's just common sense. You don't need proof that will stand up in a court of law - he's an alien with no right to be here.
I thought he was the one who had US citizenship and if that's the case then you know he'd get habeas corpus protection and a dozen pro bono marxist lawyers from the SPL to help present his case. No all the intelligence information was about the guy that is now dead not the younger brother. He wasn't a US citizen he could have been deported. Also the younger brother was not a US citizen until last year so if there was any intelligence on him before September of last year he too could have been deported.
You're probably right KQ, but given the nature of the current 'totally transparent' administration he would have been singled out as the poster boy of the moment for Obamalama's new immigration policies and we would have been holding the bag for him anyway.

What this tells me is that we had been lucky up to Boston mostly due to incompetent bomb builders (underwear and Times Square). DHS is not competent in protecting anyone from anything.
