Facebook Censors Navy SEALS to Protect Obama on Benghazi-Gate

• "Dear Leader" might want to be careful about who he pisses off, because a Navy Seal is one of the last people I want mad at me.

• I already copied the link to this to my facebook page. They can try to silence me all they want, but it's very clear Obama and his cronies MURDERED those people in Libya.

• We have a serious problem that threatens the freedom of the Internet: all of the large digital companies which control the flow of information are owned by anti-free-speech liberals. Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Twitter - there is no guarantee whatsoever that conservative opinion can reach an audience at crucial times. Last election cycle, Facebook removed the account of a Republican running for office here in Michigan. There is no recourse in such a situation. None. If we're not careful, the Internet will be owned by the totalitarians and conservatives will be left with talking on street corners.

  • That's why I don't use google as a search engine. People have to understand ONE thing about free services on the internet. Few of these companies are doing it for free or out of the goodness of their hearts. If you don't PAY for the product being sold, you ARE the product being sold. The most slimy ones sell your privacy or ram ads down your throat, while more decent ones (like this website), do it for the joy of bringing like-minded people together for entertainment.

• I know that facebook is handy for passing out this sort of info, but what just happened is *exactly* why I refuse to use it. Zuckerberg owns your content. He can yank it if he gets a wild hair, and so people need to develop other ways of spreading memes like this -- in this case, we are piggybacking our free speech on top of Schmuckerberg's, and he doesn't have to let us -- bullshit reason or no.

  • Pericat, very good point about ownership of the content. And because he owns it, he can DO anything he wants with it, which includes giving it to the government so they mine it for what ever reason they see fit, and that could be done outside the parameters of the Patriot Act, no?

    • For that matter, facebook can also *modify* your content, removing "offensive" words and phrases, turning your complaint about Dear Leader into a praise letter. It isn't just that they can delete entire posts. Imagine a phrase like "Obama sucks, his entire administration is a leadership vacuum", getting turned into "even Obama's act of breathing reduces atmospheric carbon, and creates leadership opportunities for young people looking to improve their nation by joining his administration."

      I agree with the first phrase, I sure as hell don't agree with the second. Like you said, who needs the Patriot Act, when they have Terms and Conditions (that nobody reads)?

  • I've stayed off that grid as well. Plus Twitter & Myspace. If I were a public figure in sports, media, or entertainment, then yeah, I would be part of that. But as a private citizen, no way will I join that schmuck's website. BTW, nice freefalling stockprice as well.
