Facebook reaches one billion users. Here’s the math: one billion regular users times fifteen updates per month each (average) equals way too many cute cat photos, way too many “I’m going to bed now! Goodnight Facebook!”s, and way too many people you don’t like in real life trying to be your friend online.

One usually has FRIENDS before using FB. Not surprised that you're not a user.
I use Facebook for 2 primary reasons, to play Mafia Wars, and to keep in contact with some friends.
Twitter is stupid to me, and I have no idea what bookface or pinterest are.
I do keep getting people trying to connect with me on Linkedin, but that is primarily a business networking deal, and I don't ever go there except to link to people I actually know.
I stay off of the Facebook & Twiiter grids.
Twitter seems like a waste of time to me. I have an account at MySpace, haven't seen it for years now. FaceBook is a social network, and my businesses are driven by social events, so it works for me. I've actually made money from contacts I've developed there. It's either that, or spend a bunch of money on targeted advertisement.
I do FB only. I've moved so many times over the years that it is a great way to nominally keep in touch with people. Like Flash says, the political debating is fun. We've had some interaction in that area and he does a nice job deconstructing liberal fantasies.
The hard part is that some of those liberals are my friends or customers, so I have to do it in a polite way. Others, I like to send them to a link from lmgtfy.com. I love using that one when the truth is easily obtainable. Check it out.
I use it to keep interest in my business up, and argue politics with idiots. Some idiots agree with me, some don't.

I don't use Facebook. Back when MySpace was all the rage I started to think it reminded me of the Borg to much. Never cared much for the thought of becoming a drone and part of the collective.
I did follow national empty chair day on twitter, although I don't have an account, and I'll be honest, it was pretty damn funny.
No account here either, head to Twitchy.com when something is happening and they've already weeded out all the worthless twits and I get the best of in 2 minutes or less.
There's approximately 6 billion others, including me. Can't stand Facebook.

I do not use the bookface, twitter, myspace, pinterest, or any other social networking site and haven't since 2009. Feels kind of nice. I'm also in my mid 20s in case you may have thought I was just a technophobe geezer.
I do not do facebook, either. I don't do any of those social media things other than participate in a certain blog that I'm very fond of. I don't like the lack of protection of my personal info.
