FBI arrests Australian ISIS jihadist in Florida

FBI arrests Australian ISIS jihadist in Florida. Turns out it’s a 20-year-old Jewish kid living in his parents’ house, trolling the Internet, and just pretending to be a terrorist in Australia. Good job, FBI. We all feel safer today.

  • Sometimes I wonder if I got drunk one night and woke up in a different country. When I was a young man the only 20 year olds still living with mom and dad were in college or disabled in some way. The rest of us had jobs and our own little shack to live in or, like me, were in the military and far from home. We had pride in ourselves, we wanted to be on our own earning our own way instead of mooching off of our parents.

Sadly, this doesn't seem to be true anymore and I blame the parents. The parents today don't raise their kids to have any pride, they are too busy protecting their tender little egos. Or some such bullshit. They buy their kids every little thing they want without making them earn it so they don't learn the work/reward lessons we learned. Parents no longer pay attention to what their kids are doing, where they are going, who they hang out with, they just let them "do their own thing." Then later, like I'm sure this clowns parents are doing, they look around and wonder what they did wrong. What they did wrong was not be a parent to their child and they are reaping the rewards of their stupidity.

    • Yea, when I was a kid, I couldn't wait till I was out of High School, so I could move out of my parents house, and be on my own.
Since I didn't make enough to do it on my own, I rented an apartment with a friend. We used to have the ambition to get out on our own, and make our way in the world. Now it seems like the kids are scared to leave the womb, much less move out of their parents house.
I blame the parents as much as I blame the kids. They let the kids get away with it.

      • The leftist logic is exemplified here with what you say: It's all about me (and my awesome selfies on FB, my awesome brilliance about my rosey hope'n'change global matters on Twitter, and my pintrest in all-things me) while i scold and re-educate everybody else, get them removed from their jobs and sue the shit out of "the man," etc, etc, etc... all in the comfort of my old man's basement while the dumbass keeps working for my sake because otherwise he'd be a selfish old dead white guy, like they taught us in university.

      • It wasn't just that our generation wanted out, we felt an obligation to get out. My dad still brags about me paying for my own college but the fact is, by the time you count things like living at home during the summer and him loaning me a car when I needed it, I was still costing him money. After I graduated from college, I felt an obligation to get off his dime and make my own way. So I rented an apartment with the woman I eventually married even though I didn't have a job yet (talk about something that will make you go to work...). I never felt for one instant that my parents didn't love me, I just felt an obligation to get out because I was an adult.

        • One other point. People keep mentioning how hard it is to afford a place these days. It's no more difficult than it was in our day.
I moved out and got a place when I was making $4.25 an hour. I was paying almost as much for car insurance 38 years ago as I do now. Gas was almost a dollar a gallon, and rent was $400 a month for a 2 bedroom apartment.

          • I was already 18 by the time I graduated high school, and the next week my stepdad came looking for me. The only place to reliably find me was at work, so he confronted me there. As a side bonus, (in his mind), he knew a few of the guys I worked with, so he could show off what a tough guy he was.

He came in, called me up to the front of the machine shop, and in no uncertain terms told me it was time to move out. I hope I didn't burst his bubble too much. "Ya know, if you paid ANY attention to what goes on at home, instead of being out drinking and whoring, you'd know that I left three weeks ago. Now, get out of here, I have work to do."

    • Whiskeyriver you are right. Those now living at home are "encouraged" to find themselves before they start on an adult life. Well that is pure bull shit. If you refuse to get in the real world, you are not about to find yourself.

Leave it to the leftist, limp wrists to further reduce the young to dependents on the state. See the post about quagmire being silent yesterday.

    • It also doesn't help that the psychological societies are the ones championing all this current social intelligence awareness. I think they will go so deep that society will simply implode from self-awareness.

    • Somewhat out of the ordinary, but I stayed w/ my elderly widowed grandparent for my 20's until my mom took over toward the end caring for her and i moved out... Regardless, tho, 3/4 of my FT pay went to the household, and i paid the rest of my way as well, ie: gas, auto ins, any car notes, electronics/instruments, clothing, hanging out w/ my buds or dating, etc...

My sis did the same - you reach the age of majority and you work FT and get out (marry, military, school, whatever). It was a different era.

If you can't swing it on one paycheck, the idea is to get hitched or do something more creative than burning down your neighborhood. This escapes today's mindset and sadly has transcended generations...

  • Bolshie revolutionary type. Funny, they still see themselves top of the list of lefties, although so do the Scandiwegians. Problem is always the same for both -- too much time on their hands and no need to work for a living. A little notoriety is nice, oops... until ya get caught. Oh well, obviously not ready for the big leagues. Haha!

  • Yep, should make up for all the real terrorists who slid in over our "Secure" southern border in the last week.

  • See? Our dogged policy of non-profiling finally led to an arrest. Of course, several thousand actual Muslim terrorists arriving with the Syrian 'refugees' will more than make up for Mr. Goldberg, but that's not for you to worry about.

    • It's OK. King Barky has already checked out each of the refugees himself and determined that they pose no threat to the US. After all, Islam is the religion of peace, and we will never be at war with Islam. At least that's what Barky said. However, he keeps forgetting that Islam is at war with us.
