SA, I believe most all know the truth. They are defective or just not fully developed enough, mentally, and hide from the truth like children. Too shallow and/or too self-centered to admit they did anything wrong , or were in any way wrong in their thinking. I believe this is one reason why they admire Muslims and leftist dictators so much. They are equally pigheaded and equally avoid introspection, just like they do.

Not all of them are delusional. Many of them are simply in fear for their jobs. They are ALL overpaid, and if they got fired, they would never be able to find a similar income in the private sector. And they are liberals, which means that they don't generally practice conservative personal financial methods. So, while they may be making 5 or 10 times the median income, they are still living essentially paycheck to paycheck - just with nicer toys. When the master above them tells them to lie, there is a veiled threat included: "do it or you are OUT. See how far you can live on unemployment, sucker!"
It is just a situation tailor-made for abuse.
